In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a lifelong resident of South Jersey I earned a Bachelor’s degree from Mount St. Mary’s University, where I was class president and a student athlete. I went on to earn an MBA from Saint Joseph’s University.

I have been on the Cape May City Council for eight years, Mayor for six, elected three times. I have not raised taxes in the last seven years and we have built a new library and Fire House and we are in the process of building a new Police Station and upgrading our Lifeguard Headquarters to increase space for female lifeguards.

Outside of being Mayor I helped found and build the Harriet Tubman Museum and the Cape May Point Arts and Science Center. I was proud to work with many volunteer community members to restore the historic parsonage of the Macedonia Baptist Church to become

I have proudly served on the Atlantic Cape Community College Foundation Board and the United States Coast Guard Community Foundation for years.

My wife Justine and I are raising our family here in South Jersey. We have three children Bobby, Tallulah, and James (ages 7, 10, and 12).

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Today we are living with more income and wealth inequality than we have ever have. To grow the middle class, we must have a fair tax system that holds corporations and the wealthiest accountable. I will focus on lowering the cost of living by addressing hidden fees and reducing taxes on working families. As a small business owner, I know that 9 out of 10 new jobs come from small businesses. We can both support our small businesses and our families.

Housing is the foundation of middle-class wealth. I will increase federal funding for affordable housing development in South Jersey and support first-time homebuyer assistance programs. Families deserve to put down roots in their community, and I will fight to provide that opportunity.South Jersey's environment is diverse and beautiful, from our farmland, to pinelands, to wetlands, to our shores. Clean energy is both an environmental and economic issue. We need to utilize all of our resources to harness renewable energy. I will push for federal incentives for energy-efficient homes and businesses to protect our environment and save money for working families.

We need federal investment in coastal resiliency, wetland and dune restoration, and infrastructure to protect our communities. I will fight to preserve South Jersey's beaches, wetlands, and fishing industry.

I will support initiatives for clean air and clean water. Future generations deserve a healthy environment. Our democracy is under threat when dark money and special interests drown out the voices of working families. We need public financing of elections so that candidates answer to the people, not to billionaires and corporate PACs. I will push to ban members of Congress from trading stocks, because no elected official should be profiting from the decisions they make. We need full transparency in political spending so voters know exactly who is funding campaigns. I will demand accountability at every level, because a government that answers to corporate donors will never fight for lower costs, clean energy, or fair wages. Real change starts with getting corruption out of our politics once and for all.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am deeply passionate about protecting the promises we made to working families and seniors. The money that you have contributed to Social Security is yours, I will strongly oppose any cuts or privatization of Social Security, and fight to strengthen it for future generations.

I will fight to expand Medicare to include dental, vision, and hearing care, protect Medicaid, and support programs that help seniors. Healthcare is a human right, not a privilege reserved only for those who can afford it. Corporate greed is driving up costs. I will push to expand Medicare's power to negotiate drug prices, expand mental health services for all Americans, and work toward a Medicare for All system funded by fairer corporate taxes.
