In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
My name is Xavier Stevens. I grew up in the Northeast Kingdom and have a degree in Mathematics from UVM. I now work as an Environmental Engineer helping hold big businesses accountable to EPA Regulations and keeping our earth clean.
I fight for Affordability, Accountability, Availability, Enshrining Civil Rights, and Human/Environmental Wellness. Common sense legislature supporting Universal Healthcare, Education Guarantees, and Environmental Protection. We need to stop punishing children and the working class to ensure millionaires and billionaires (and possibly trillionaires now) are getting their tax breaks.
There are obvious steps forward that need to be taken. I am willing to be the one that takes those actions.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
I will fight to Enshrine Human/Civil Rights. Too many laws are not enshrined within the Vermont Constitution and are able to be overturned, overruled, and overlooked. Vermont is a safe, welcoming state and to make sure everyone feels welcome, we need to be taking the appropriate steps to guaranteeing the protections that people look to Vermont for. Ensuring the right to an abortion, the right to a fair trial, the right to healthcare, food, housing.
We have seen too many Non-Enshrined rights ripped away and I will fight to make sure that can't happen here.We need to guarantee Human/Environmental Wellness. Things like Universal Healthcare, Education Guarantees, and Environmental Protection are obvious that need to be secured.
I have a degree in Environmental Protection and plan to use my expertise to solidify Vermont as a shining example of environmentalism.
Forms of Universal Healthcare have already been implemented and proven successful. We just need to give that right to everybody now.As prices increase, communication seems to decrease. I fight for Affordability, Accountability, and Availability. All the things laid out before this can actually make Vermont more affordability. Universal Healthcare, Plugin Solar, Tax Bracket Restructure, etc... I fight to keep Vermont for Vermonters, and not wealthy out of staters. I promise to uphold these tenets and will maintain my availability and accountability. I hold consistent coffee hours on weekends as well as respond on an active email account. Vermonters deserve to have a say in how their state is run.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am passionate about my 5 Core Tenets:
• Affordability
• Healthcare
• Enshrining Human/Civil Rights
• Environmental Protection
• Accountability and Availability
