In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a lifelong Hoosier, father, military veteran, communications professional, and advocate. I served nearly a decade in the U.S. Army and Indiana Army National Guard, including deployments to Afghanistan and Kuwait, where I worked in military public affairs and journalism. I was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for my journalism work in Afghanistan.

Since leaving military service, I have worked in communications, public relations, nonprofit advocacy, and community organizing. I have previously run for Indiana Lieutenant Governor and for Indiana's 2nd Congressional District, including campaigns in 2022 and 2024. I currently work as an advocate and communications professional and remain active in efforts involving government accountability, individual rights, veterans, and public policy.

I believe elected officials should be accountable to the people they represent and that government should respect individual liberty while being responsible with taxpayer resources. Our current officials are failing citizens. We must vote, legislate, and execute differently to change course.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Government accountability and fiscal responsibility: Government should live within its means and remain accountable to the people. I support eliminating waste, fraud, and unnecessary bureaucracy; reducing federal spending and regulatory burdens; and limiting government programs that unnecessarily intrude into the lives, property, and finances of Americans. Taxpayers should not be forced to subsidize projects that primarily benefit the politically connected or corporations.Privacy, constitutional rights, and limits on surveillance: Americans should not be subjected to unnecessary government surveillance simply because technology makes it possible. I support eliminating unnecessary surveillance programs, reducing the use of automated license-plate readers and facial recognition systems, establishing meaningful limits on government and corporate collection, retention and use of personal data, and requiring appropriate warrants, transparency, oversight, and due process when government seeks information about individuals.A stronger America through service, veterans, constitutional government, and domestic investment: My military service taught me the importance of service, accountability, preparedness, and responsible leadership. I support a strong national defense while opposing unnecessary foreign entanglements and intervention to focus our resources on strengthening American's here at home. That means protecting veterans, private property, local communities, and natural resources; opposing government taking land for corporate interests; and demanding transparency and accountability as data centers consume increasing amounts of land, water, electricity, infrastructure, and taxpayer resources.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am particularly passionate about government accountability, fiscal responsibility, individual liberty, veterans' issues, medical freedom, hemp research and policy, constitutional rights, privacy, national defense, and reducing unnecessary foreign military intervention. I am also particularly interested in food and agricultural policy, including research into the nutritional properties and lawful uses of hemp. Through the Food First Initiative, www.FoodFirst.us, I have achieved success where the USDA and FDA have failed and refused to produce research regarding the nutritional aspects of federally legal hemp, which would encourage and force evidence-based public policy.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

We, the members of the Libertarian Party, challenge the cult of the omnipotent state and defend the rights of the individual.

We hold that all individuals have the right to exercise sole dominion over their own lives, and have the right to live in whatever manner they choose, so long as they do not forcibly interfere with the equal right of others to live in whatever manner they choose.

Governments throughout history have regularly operated on the opposite principle, that the State has the right to dispose of the lives of individuals and the fruits of their labor. Even within the United States, all political parties other than our own grant to government the right to regulate the lives of individuals and seize the fruits of their labor without their consent.

We, on the contrary, deny the right of any government to do these things, and hold that where governments exist, they must not violate the rights of any individual: namely, (1) the right to life — accordingly we support the prohibition of the initiation of physical force against others; (2) the right to liberty of speech and action — accordingly we oppose all attempts by government to abridge the freedom of speech and press, as well as government censorship in any form; and (3) the right to property — accordingly we oppose all government interference with private property, such as confiscation, nationalization, and eminent domain, and support the prohibition of robbery, trespass, fraud, and misrepresentation.

Since governments, when instituted, must not violate individual rights, we oppose all interference by government in the areas of voluntary and contractual relations among individuals. People should not be forced to sacrifice their lives and property for the benefit of others. They should be left free by government to deal with one another as free traders; and the resultant economic system, the only one compatible with the protection of individual rights, is the free market.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

Honor, Integrity, and the ability to honestly represent the people from where they stand.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

I was a dishwasher and food worker at Chez Jean's French Restaurant in Camby, Ind.

I worked there for the duration of my Summer break in 1997.

What qualities does the U.S. House of Representatives possess that makes it unique as an institution?

Federal fiscal responsibility.

Do you believe that it's beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics?

Each person is unique. I do not believe in limiting individuals to fill a position beyond what the Constitution prescribes.

That being said, I believe my personal knowledge and experiences in politics and government have made me better suited to serve.

What do you perceive to be the United States' greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?

Keeping our federal finances balanced.

Do you believe that two years is the right term length for representatives?

Yes

What are your thoughts on term limits?

I support term limits.

Is there a particular representative, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?

Liberty-minded folks

Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?

Compromise is desirable, and always a good thing when all sides can get something by brokering a deal. Effective communication is key when compromising and all sides should be willing to work through all aspects to communicate needs and expectations. We must be able to work with all parties and resolve nonpartisan issues with poise and diplomacy.

What committees interest you?

Committees that have to do with finance, defense and veterans, and medical.

What are your views on financial transparency and government accountability?

Government, and those who work within, must work in full transparency and be held fully accountable.

Afghan citizens were left unarmed and defenseless after U.S. and Coalition Forces took all the semiautomatic and small arms weapons from the citizens. We must protect our right to access firearms, with no compromise. We learned how quickly a government can fail and enemies can conquer a territory by simply looking at what the U.S. and Coalition Forces did in Afghanistan. After a hasty and sloppy withdraw, the Taliban simply took back over with no time to spare.[3]

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Financial Stability

1.

Remain vocal and resist increases in overall federal taxation and budgeting. Demand all federal agencies audit and prepare to reduce costs immediately.

2.

Introduce legislation calling for reductions to regulatory roadblocks and taxes for all levels of business growth here on U.S. soil. This will encourage competition and increase U.S. manufacturing and production to grow our economy, reducing our need and dependence on foreign products. Without sacrificing our environment, we can increase our internal wealth, see better product quality, and increase the overall dollar value.

3.

I will work directly with national financial organizations to immediately and independently assess all government programs and agencies. An independent detailed review of financial data would help identify potential waste and help reduce the scope of government spending in the agencies evaluated. This includes reductions in personnel, property, physical assets, and facilities across all federal departments and agencies.

Defense and Veterans Care

1.

Support readiness for the U.S. to maintain the strongest and best trained all-volunteer military force for OUR National Defense, while calling for reductions in exorbitant spending and needless involvement in overseas contingency and combat operations. I would be vocal and vote against overseas contingency operations outside the scope of our government and challenge all combat and wartime operations outside the U.S. not approve
