In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

My name is Wendy Morgan and I live new Bloomfield, Perry County, Pennsylvania. I came from a military family and was able to live all over the world as a child. I went to high school in Mifflin County at Indian Valleys High School and graduated in 2005. I then went to college at the University of West Florida and Platt College where I received a B.A. in Cultural Anthropology and an A.S. In Veterinary Technology respectively. I have worked with children and animals most of my adult life, but have also volunteered with women, children, and environmental conservation both overseas and in the United States . I am currently a homemaker and I am raising two rambunctious little boys with my husband. I am also a pet parent to two dogs, three cats, and nine chickens.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

The average American is struggling with affordability. By raising the minimum wage to a livable level , mandating paid sick/family leave, ensuring all citizens have access to affordable healthcare and housing, and expanding subsidies for daycare, we can create a more equitable society. We need to increase support for farmers and local students. This will secure a future with a knowledgeable and skilled work force and a strong and resilient food system. Farmers can be supported through increased grant funding, training on best management practices, and greater local investment through Farm to School programs and local farmers markets. Students can be given greater opportunities by creating dual enrollment programs while in high school, apprenticeship programs, and lowering the cost of community colleges.Ensuring veterans receive the benefits they earned and the support they deserve. We can champion our prior service members by increasing access to information, transportation , housing, and healthcare.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am passionate about supporting women and children. The best way to lift a community up is through education and having the opportunity to work (without worrying about day care prices). I am also interested in both environmental and historical conservation, especially when it creates tourism opportunities.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

The ability to work with others and make beneficial compromises when necessary.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

To represent and create thoughtful policy for all people in their district, no matter what political party someone belongs to.

What legacy would you like to leave?

A future where my children have the opportunity to vote in free and fair elections and have the chance to receive quality education, healthcare, and a descent paying job.

What do you perceive to be your state's greatest challenges over the next decade?

Continued economic growth, the conservation of environmental resources, and the protection of our basic rights.
