In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I am running for the West Virginia House of Delegates in District 29 because I believe my district deserves a representative who understands the realities of our families. As a wife, mother and active community member, my perspective is rooted in the same experiences as my neighbors. My career has been defined by a deep commitment to service and advocacy; with a background in nursing I bring critical thinking and the urgency of our neighbors' wellbeing to the legislative process.
Currently, I serve our community as a Title XIX Case Manager and Behavioral Support Professional-1. In these roles, I navigate complex systems daily to ensure that our most vulnerable citizens receive the support they need. I see first hand where our state's policies succeed and fail. I am ready to use that experience to work to improve the quality of life for all residents.
Beyond my professional life, I am a firm believer in investing in our youth to build a stronger future. Whether I am coaching T-Ball or serving as a certified 4-H air pistol instructor, I am dedicated to teaching discipline, responsibility and teamwork.
I am not a career politician. I am a caregiver, an educator and an advocate. I am running to bring common-sense leadership to the House of Delegates and to ensure the voices of the people in District 29 are heard loud and clear.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
My commitment to the people of District 29 is to actively listen and to represent them openly and honestly.
True leadership isn't found behind closed doors. You should never have to wonder why a vote was cast or how your tax dollars are spent. I will work to ensure that every decision is made in the light of day, with your voice at the table and your interests at the heart of every bill.Protecting our public schools is not just a policy choice; it is synonymous with protecting our future.
Public education was envisioned as the "great equalizer," a promise that a child’s zip code will never act as a ceiling on their potential.
A promise is only as strong as the investment behind it. We must protect our public schools by ensuring that every classroom is adequately funded, with additional targeted resources for students with IEPs and communities with high poverty rates. We need to ensure that our public school employees are fully supported from classroom resources to retirement security.Improving and maintaining our infrastructure is more than a necessity. It is the engine of our economic future. To attract new industries, we must provide the foundations they depend on: safe reliable water, easily navigable roads and bridges, high-speed digital connectivity, and complete cellular coverage.
By investing in these fundamental essentials, we aren't just building projects; we are creating local jobs and bridging the gap between our rural producers and global markets.
True progress isn't always about building something new. It’s about ensuring what we have meets our needs for today and can easily be evolved to meet the demands of tomorrow.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Transparency & Accountability, Education, Infrastructure, Economic Development, and Health and Social Services
When these policy areas are integrated, they create a prosperous cycle. Transparency ensures that resources for infrastructure and education are spent wisely. A well-educated workforce attracts economic development, which in turn generates the tax revenue necessary to fund health and social services. These priorities represent a holistic vision for a society that is not only efficient and prosperous but also compassionate and just.
By focusing on these core areas, we move beyond short-term fixes and toward a sustainable future where every individual has the tools, the health, and the environment they need to thrive.
What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?
Education-West Virginia, AFL-CIO, United Mine Workers of America, Communication Workers of America, International Union of Operating Engineers, Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters, Building and Construction Trades of WV and local endorsements from Education - WV of Mingo and Wayne Counties.
