Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Venton Jones is a native of House District 100 representing a new generation of leaders committed to advancing equity and justice through two decades of experience leading organizations, impacting public policy, and organizing diverse communities. Since the beginning of his career, Venton has been a tireless advocate working to improve healthcare access, fighting for marginalized communities and middle-class families, and protecting voting rights.
Venton is the Founder and CEO of the Southern Black Policy and Advocacy Network (SBPAN), where the mission is to improve health, social, and economic conditions impacting Black communities in the U.S. South. Venton has a long history of successfully implementing innovative and effective initiatives nationally, throughout the State of Texas, and locally in Dallas County.
As an active member of the Democratic Party, Venton serves as a neighborhood Precinct Chairman and an Election Judge. He is also a former Board member of the Stonewall Democratic of Dallas. In addition to his work with the Democratic Party, Venton serves as the Chairman of the Dallas County HIV Task Force, is former Vice-Chair of the Dallas County Ryan White Planning Council, and is a City of Dallas Appointee to the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center Board.
Venton received his Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health and his Master of Science degree in Health Care Administration.

I was born and raised in the House District.My work will continue to focus on serving low and middle-income communities, and those individuals with the highest rates of unresolved health disparities.I am prepared to fully serve our district and bring much-needed lived and professional experience to serve in this seat for the long term.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Increase access and funding for public health, including the expansion of Medicaid
Fully funding our public schools and supporting needed wage increases for our state employees
Being a fierce champion for equitable voting rights
Incarcerated populations and families impacted by incarceration
