Hello! I am Velma Davis. I have lived for 30 years in the area between Valley Center, Kansas and Wichita in District 91. I have been married for 35 years and are proud parents of 3 children and 4 adorable grandchildren (I can't forget our 2 dogs!). I am an avid traveler, lifelong reader and someone who truly loves connecting with people!

As a retired educator for over 30 years in Wichita Public Schools, I served our community as a teacher, counselor, librarian and technology specialist.

Growing up in a small town with three older siblings and a hardworking single mother, I learned early on that life isn't always easy. That experience taught me the value of looking out for one another, regardless of age, status, or background.

I’m running for office to build a better future for our families and neighbors—starting with accessible healthcare, affordable groceries, and quality public education."

Affordable Health Care is a basic need.

Access to affordable healthcare is a fundamental necessity. I am committed to lowering costs by rigorously evaluating policy changes and prioritizing solutions that deliver real results for Kansas families.Prices need to come down!

To support our workforce, we must address the rising cost of living. By modernizing our tax code, increasing the state minimum wage, and strengthening our social safety nets, we can ensure that Kansas remains a place where hard work actually pays off.Our Kansas kids deserve exemplary public schools.

I join other educators that believe our children deserve a quality public school system. We all benefit when every student is educated.

I am genuinely impressed by how Kansas schools 'make do' with very little, but our students deserve more than just 'making do.' Funneling public educational funding into private school tax credits or vouchers undermines the foundation of our community. We must instead prioritize fully funding special education and providing our public educators with the resources they need to help every child succeed."
