In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
My name is Vanessa Poulin. I'm a wife, a mother of three, a United States Navy veteran, and a candidate for the New Hampshire House of Representatives. I believe in family, personal responsibility, and the freedoms that make New Hampshire one of the best places in the country to live. I proudly served in the U.S. Navy for over a decade, where I learned the importance of integrity, accountability, and service before self. Those values continue to guide me today as I serve on my town's Budget Committee, Planning Board, and Conservation Commission, and as a member of the Belknap-Merrimack Head Start Policy Council.
My husband and I are raising our three children here in New Hampshire, and like many families, we understand the challenges of balancing work, family, and the rising cost of living. Those experiences have strengthened my belief that government should be fiscally responsible, transparent, and accountable to the people it serves. I'm running because I believe New Hampshire deserves citizen legislators who will protect individual liberty, defend the Constitution, support parents, keep taxes low, and preserve local control. I believe elected officials should listen first, lead with integrity, and never lose sight of who they represent. It would be an honor to earn the trust of the people of Merrimack District 27 and serve them in Concord.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Defend Parents' Rights and Keep Government Out of Family Life
Parents, not politicians or bureaucrats, should have the final say in raising and guiding their children. I believe families know what is best for their own children and will fight to protect their rights from unnecessary government interference. I will stand up against government overreach in education and community policy, support transparency and parental involvement in schools, and work to keep classrooms focused on academic excellence rather than political agendas. I believe strong families are the foundation of a strong New Hampshire, and protecting parental rights is essential to preserving our state's values and future.Honor and Support New Hampshire Veterans
As a Navy veteran, I understand the sacrifices made by the men and women who answered the call to serve our country. We took an oath to defend our Constitution, and that commitment does not end when our military service is over. Our veterans deserve more than words of gratitude, they deserve timely access to quality VA health care, strong mental health resources, and the benefits they have earned through their service and sacrifice. I will fight to reduce unnecessary bureaucracy, improve access to care, and ensure veterans and their families are treated with the dignity, respect, and support they have earned. We must always honor those who have worn the uniform by keeping our promises to them.Stop Out-of-Control Spending and Protect Taxpayers
New Hampshire families are being squeezed by rising costs while government continues to grow. I believe taxpayers deserve responsible stewardship of every dollar they earn. I will stand firmly against wasteful spending, bloated budgets, and unnecessary government expansion in Concord. Government should live within its means, just as hardworking families are expected to do every day. I will support fiscally responsible budgets, prioritize essential services, and work to protect taxpayers from higher taxes and unnecessary financial burdens while preserving the New Hampshire Advantage for future generations.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am most passionate about protecting children, defending parental rights, and preserving the freedoms that make New Hampshire unique. I believe parents, not government, should have the final say in their children's education, upbringing, and well-being. Our schools should focus on academic excellence, not political or ideological agendas. I am also committed to protecting taxpayers through responsible spending, limited government, and fiscal accountability. I believe in defending our constitutional rights, supporting law enforcement, honoring our veterans, and preserving the New Hampshire Advantage. Strong families, individual liberty, personal responsibility, and accountable government are the principles that guide my public service.
