In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

My name is Troy Redler, and I am announcing my candidacy for the South Dakota House of Representatives in District 17 for the 2026 election cycle.

As a small business owner and father, I felt it was the right time to step forward and serve. My wife, Sara, and I have lived in South Dakota since 2007, and our family has deep roots in this community. I am the second‑generation owner of Redler’s LTC Pharmacy, which has been family‑owned and operated since 1975.

My professional background is in healthcare and long‑term care operations. Over the years, I have worked closely with care teams, administrators and partner organizations to help ensure consistent support for individuals who rely on long‑term care services. That work has shaped my understanding of regulatory requirements, accountability and the importance of clear communication.

I was raised to believe that a person’s word matters and that responsibility should be taken seriously. Managing a regulated business has reinforced the importance of accuracy, transparency and follow‑through. These are the principles I bring to any role I take on.

Family, faith and community are central to my life. Through my work, I have gained a strong appreciation for the families, caregivers and professionals who carry significant responsibilities every day. I also value practical problem‑solving and listening to people directly about the issues they face.

As I begin this campaign, I look forward to meeting with residents.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

I value local communities and practical problem solving. The work I do requires collaboration, trust, and a willingness to listen before acting. I believe the best outcomes come from engaging people directly, understanding the realities they face, and working toward solutions that are sustainable and grounded in real experience.Family, faith and community are central to who I am. Working in long term care has given me a deep appreciation for families, caregivers, and professionals who quietly shoulder enormous responsibility every day. It has also shown me how closely policy, administration, and real life intersect—and why thoughtful, practical leadership matters.I was raised to believe that your word matters and that leadership means following through. Managing complex, regulated environments has taught me the importance of doing things the right way, not the easy way, and of being transparent when challenges arise. Those same principles guide how I approach responsibility and service.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Fiscal responsibility and targeted funding to do more with less.
