Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Trish Ladner a Mother, business owner, community leader and a candidate for the 30th District House of Representatives in the state of South Dakota. A Christian, conservative Republican, with common sense values who believes in limited government, low taxes and less regulation. With business experience that counts having built a marketing business from the ground up, she understands firsthand the challenges a business owner and their families face every day. These challenges that will be even greater as businesses face rebuilding, re-inventing and re-assessing their future needs after the pandemic that will require critical thinking and concise decision making.
The people of District 30 expect their elected officials to work hard, represent their values every day and that is exactly what she intends to do. With small town roots and family in South Dakota, Trish is dedicated to serving you the people of the 30th District.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am passionate about small businesses not just surviving, but thriving! With almost 20 percent of the state's income coming from tourism, I understands firsthand the challenges business owners and their families will face after the pandemic subsides and begin reopening the businesses and towns. It is going to take critical, thinking and legislative support to restart the businesses and cultivate their future tourism numbers within the 30th District.
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
I am a strong communicator with the ability to listen. With my extensive background in for-profit and non-profit business management including digital marketing, social media management, I believe I possess the tools necessary to weight the pros and cons of an issue and make an educated decision that will benefit my district and my state.
What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?
The first historic event in my lifetime that I remember is the assignation of President Kennedy. I was in 5th grade and the principal closed the school and sent us all home. I remember the profound sense of grief that spread throughout the community.
What is your favorite book? Why?
Next Level Thinking by Joel Osteen. It's an uplifting book that encourages you to draw from the gifts and talents that are already within you rising higher to the next level.
Do you believe that it’s beneficial for state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics?
No. We need less politicians and more people in office who understand business and real life challenges.
What do you perceive to be your state’s greatest challenges over the next decade?
One of our biggest challenges that South Dakota faces over the next decade is the challenge creating jobs and professional opportunities that will keep our younger population within the state and encourages others to move here.
Do you believe it’s beneficial to build relationships with other legislators? Please explain your answer.
Building good relationships with other legislators is key to bipartisan discussion and open communication helping to facilitate the best results for our constituents and our state.
