The following is a sample of issues taken from Kelly's campaign website:[12]

Mississippi Values: "Duty, honor, integrity and selfless service are not just words to me; they are a way of life. It is the fiber of who I am. It is what drives me. I am running for Congress because I want to serve the people of this great State with honor and integrity."

Economic Prosperity: "There is nothing more important than defending this great nation and our priority in defending ourselves is to make sure we have a strong economy that provides high-paying jobs for our citizens. We have seen the slowest recovery since WWII, and it is time to get our economy moving again. That is why I will fight to stop the out of control federal regulations that are being placed on our small businesses. I will fight to stop the tax and spend policies of the last eight years and work to encourage economic growth and prosperity."

Fiscal Responsibility: "Individuals, families and small businesses in Mississippi understand the importance of setting a budget and living within their means. Congress has the power of the purse and just like individuals, families and small businesses Congress must always be vigilant of wasteful spending and cut wherever possible."

National Security / Veterans: "We cannot get the budget of this nation back on track by only cutting from our defense budget. I believe in a strong military. As a Colonel in the Mississippi National Guard who has done two tours in Iraq, I will always support a strong national defense. I will fight to make sure that our men and women in uniform are equipped to deal with current threats. I also believe that a strong defense starts with taking care of those men and women who have and are currently defending our country as a member of the armed forces."

Israel: "Israel is our strongest and most trusted ally in a hostile region of the world. Israel is our friend, and I support Israel."[13]
