In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

My name is Tony De Mille. I’m a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a member of this community who believes government should work for the people it represents.

I’m not a career politician, and that’s intentional. I believe our communities are strongest when regular people step forward to serve. I’ve spent years involved in local community activities, volunteering, and working alongside my neighbors to make our area a better place to live.

I’m running for Utah House District 13 because I believe our government should focus more on people than on political teams. Too often politics turns into a contest about who wins the argument instead of who solves the problem. I’m interested in solutions.

I believe decisions should be driven by good data, transparency, and accountability. Leaders should be willing to listen, ask questions, and adjust when new information comes forward. I believe in strong public education, responsible stewardship of our resources, and law enforcement that remains accountable to the communities they serve.

I’m not running to build a political career. I’m running to represent the people of this district with honesty, common sense, and a willingness to work with anyone who wants to solve real problems.

Government should be of the people, by the people, and for the people. That’s the job I’m signing up to do.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

People Over Politics

I’m running because too many decisions in government are made for political teams instead of the people those teams are supposed to represent. I’m not interested in playing party games. My loyalty is to the people of District 13. That means listening first, asking questions, and working with anyone willing to solve problems. Good ideas don’t belong to a party. They belong to the people. My job is simple: represent the community honestly and put people ahead of politics every time.Data Over Drama

Strong decisions come from good information, not loud opinions. I believe policy should be guided by data, research, and real outcomes. When the facts change, leaders should be willing to adjust. That isn’t weakness. That’s responsible leadership. I will always look for the numbers, the evidence, and the real-world results before supporting a policy. Emotion can start a conversation, but data should guide the decision.Accountability and Transparency

Government only works when the people can see it working. I believe in transparency, clear communication, and accountability from everyone in government. That includes elected officials, agencies, and law enforcement. The public deserves to know how decisions are made and who is responsible for them. Trust between government and the community is built through openness and honesty, and that trust has to be earned every day.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

People First Public Policy

The public policy I care most about is making sure people actually fit into the decisions government makes. Too often policy is written in conference rooms far away from the people it affects. I want policy that starts with the question: how will this impact real people in our communities? Housing affordability is part of that conversation, but it is only one piece. Public policy should be built around opportunity, fairness, and practical solutions that help families live, work, and thrive. Government works best when the people it represents are part of the process, not an afterthought.
