In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Born and raised in Minnesota. A graduate of the University of Minnesota with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Began my career at Univac as a quality engineer and over 22 years worked in many departments up to Program Quality Management. The FAA Denver Airport “Final Runway Approach System” was the last project managed, and is still in use today. With the reduction in US Defense contracts in the 1990’s Univac reduced its workforce drastically. I switched over to the medical field working in small medical companies as the experienced problem solver and the manager of the Documentation, Manufacturing Quality, and Regulatory departments. I worked well with the regulatory agencies such as the FDA, International Medical device agencies and the European Union (EU). Knowing my way around the US, the international, and the Minnesota systems of laws and regulations, I directed companies through successful approvals of products and quality systems; making them profitable and targets for acquisition. I moved on as an independent consultant for startup medical device companies; establishing Quality Systems, Design Reviews, obtaining regulatory approvals, 510ks, and sterilization profile approvals. I attribute my success as a servant leader in viewing the situation from the other person’s viewpoint; listening, then working together for solutions. I am Resident of Eagan for 41 years. I was married to Gail for 41 years before succumbing to Covid in 2021.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
#1 Reducing the Minnesota Government spending.
-Stop the flow of fraud $ with legislation that sorts out the legitimate from the fraudulent.
-Develop legislation to prevent future fraud along with stiff penalties
-Ensure each spending bill has fraud preventative measures within it.
-Establish accountability reporting for each of the 200 agencies that are spending taxpayer $ and establish penalties for not reporting.
-End programs and projects that that have run their course and eliminate duplication of programs.
The 2023-2024 session spent the $17.5 billion surplus, added $10 billion in new taxes and increased the MN government by 40% . Accountability is needed on the use of this money.
The $79 billion debt needs to be addressed#2 Reduce taxes [income tax (Social Security / Tips), gas, vehicle, sales] and property tax
Review the $10 billion in new taxes from 2023 for areas of waste and where the tax can be reduced or eliminated
Make Minnesota affordable and attractive to more individuals/families and businesses#3 Raise Minnesota Education Standards
Increasing the education funding and mandates has not helped Minnesota students. Emphasis in reading, writing, math and science is needed to bring the education standards up. Our schools and colleges were ranked high in the nation. Lets make them the best.
I will work to eliminate some of the 2023-2024 education mandates.
I will also work on making 52B and Minnesota attractive for businesses in order to help reduce the property tax burden of which 54% is for the school districts.
