Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Todd Davis is a lifelong resident of Saco, Maine, where he was born and raised and continues to make his home. He graduated from Thornton Academy and went on to earn a degree in Business Administration from the University of Southern Maine.

Todd built a 27 year career with a large insurance company, beginning in finance as a Senior Budget & Cost Analyst and ultimately serving on the executive team responsible for operations across 14 states. After retiring from that role, he spent more than six years with a Maine based nonprofit providing residential care, assisted living, and community support services for seniors, adults with mental health challenges, and individuals with intellectual disabilities or autism.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Affordability – tackle the rising costs of childcare, healthcare, and utilities so working families can breathe again. You work too hard to just get by.Education – results driven approach, focusing on core academics with clear expectations.Protecting the Promise – reforge and properly fund the social programs that are meant to be a safety net for children, seniors, and those most in need.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Appropriations and Financial Affairs, Health Coverage, Insurance and Financial Services, Health and Human Services, Energy, Utilities and Technology, Taxation and Transportation.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

The late Maine Senator Bill Diamond.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Honesty, integrity, common-sense, compromise and the ability to be a good listener.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

Being accountable to your constituents, a good steward of their tax dollars and doing no harm.

What legacy would you like to leave?

As someone who listened, worked hard and served and gave back to their community.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

As a Dishwasher for The Kerrymen Pub and Restaurant.

What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the governor and state legislature?

The balance of separation of responsibilities working together for the State of Maine.

What do you perceive to be your state's greatest challenges over the next decade?

Energy cost, Education and job opportunities of the future.

Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?

I believe compromise is both desirable and necessary for making good policy. Don't let "perfect” get in the way of “good.”

What was the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember?

The first moon landing.
