The primary duty of any public office holder is to protect the rights of the people
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Any level of government should operate within its lawful authority and fiscal means.Government should never violate the rights of the peopleMany operations of government run some risk of interfering with free enterprise. We must guard against government performing functions which the free market can and should perform.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Violations of citizen rights.
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
For all of his flaws, Winston Churchill. He was an egotist and apologist for empire, but he was unwilling to acquiesce to Nazi tyranny and understood the risk to the world of doing so. With the exception of during the war, he similarly spoke out against Soviet oppression.
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
Honesty, humility and open-mindedness
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
To safeguard the rights of the people and be a good steward of public resources
What legacy would you like to leave?
Of honest public service with a view toward the protection of rights and a better future for the public.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
As an assistant grounds keeper at a neighborhood church when I was 15. It was for only the summer.
What is something that has been a struggle in your life?
Not feeling that I must be "productive" at all times. Recreation is also a necessary use of time.
What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the governor and state legislature?
The are intended to serve as a check on each other's power.
What do you perceive to be your state's greatest challenges over the next decade?
Getting our legislature to understand the differences between a right and a privilege.
Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?
Certainly, though there must be "red lines" on which one should not compromise. It is better to lose a noble fight than to win a shameful one.

The Libertarian Party of Colorado
What was the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember?
The one that comes to mind is the 1979 seizing of the U.S. embassy in Tehran.
