Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I am a lifetime resident of the State of Missouri. I grew up in a working-class union family. I went to Vianney for high school and received my bachelor's degree from SEMO. I have been married to my wife Molly for 40 years. We raised our 2 daughters in Manchester and are members of St Joseph's. I was my daughter's soccer and softball coach. In my professional career worked for SWBT/ATT for 36+ years. At ATT I managed the Business Services field operations for Missouri/Arkansas. My organization was responsible for Cell Service connectivity, High speed Business services, public safety services (911 operation), data center infrastructure, Long Line protection, and Business phone services. I dealt with complex customer networks and demands. As part of my responsibilities, I wrote operational practices and dealt with complex contracts.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Support funding local schools and a quality education for every child.
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
Ronald Regan He pulled our nation out of 1 of the worst financial economies the US has faced since the depression. He did so by eliminating regulations and lowering taxes.
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
They need to be open, honest and willing to work with anyone to get things done for their representatives.
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
My ability to work across party lines to achieve resolutions. I have throughout my career worked with internal committees and union officials to resolve issues.
What legacy would you like to leave?
It is the success of my daughters in their chosen careers. I could not be prouder of them.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
My first job was delivering weekend newspapers on Saturday nights and selling papers on Sunday morning at Crestwood Plaza. I did this till I went to High School (5 years).
What is something that has been a struggle in your life?
It is dealing with individuals that try and make issues more complicated than they really are. I have a moto of "kiss" the problem, Keep It Simple.
What do you believe is the ideal relationship between the governor and state legislature?
The governor and the state legislature need to work together but has to understand the concerns of the local districts.
What do you perceive to be your state's greatest challenges over the next decade?
The on boarding of businesses into the state of MO. We are seeing companies returning to the states and MO needs to aggressively pursue bring these businesses to our state.
Do you believe that compromise is necessary or desirable for policymaking?
Our government is based on creating the best policies for the citizens. In establishing these policies, it is critical to work with all parties involved and the ability to compromise is part of the process.

What was the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember?
When I was delivering the weekend paper to my neighborhood, I stopped at my parents' house to watch the first moon walk on tv.
