Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I am a Ph.D. physicist, entrepreneur, independent-minded Republican, and former Bernie Sanders supporter running to bring scientific integrity and accountability to Washington. I founded an environmental-monitoring company whose systems have been deployed from the Arctic to Antarctica, and throughout my career I have relied on evidence, testing, and measurable results rather than ideology or political convenience.
I also have a proven record of challenging misinformation and institutional groupthink, even when doing so was difficult or unpopular. I believe public officials must be willing to examine the evidence honestly, admit when the facts contradict an accepted narrative, and put the truth ahead of party loyalty, career interests, or political pressure.
My campaign is built around “Science Over Politics.” I want government decisions—on healthcare, the economy, energy, national security, technology, and the environment—to be based on rigorous evidence, transparency, compassion, and practical results.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Science Over Politics: I would require major federal policies to disclose the evidence, assumptions, and data supporting them; strengthen protections for scientific whistleblowers; require independent review of high-impact agency findings; and make federally funded research and government data publicly accessible whenever national security and privacy permit. I would also pursue constitutionally sound equal-opportunity standards for broadcasters using public airwaves, together with transparency requirements for media ownership and recommendation algorithms, so Americans are more often exposed to credible opposing views rather than trapped in partisan information bubbles.Economic Security and Healthcare: I would vote to raise the federal minimum wage quickly to approximately $15 per hour and then index it to inflation so workers do not lose purchasing power. I would pursue a hybrid healthcare system that guarantees Medicare coverage for every American while allowing private insurers to compete across state lines under strong consumer protections. I would also support legislation permitting safe prescription-drug imports from licensed Canadian pharmacies, expanding Medicare price negotiations, and restricting pharmaceutical-company and pharmacy benefit manager practices that unnecessarily inflate costs.Government Accountability and Constitutional Limits: I would require body cameras and standardized humane-training rules for ICE operations, protect long-settled undocumented workers from deportation, and create a time-limited self-departure and lawful reentry process for recent arrivals without viable asylum claims. I would use War Powers resolutions and Congress’s control of funding to end unauthorized wars and prevent future presidents from bypassing Congress. I would also pursue aggressive oversight, subpoenas, and impeachment where warranted, and support constitutional amendments to overturn Citizens United and establish term limits for members of Congress.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am most passionate about and experienced in combating misinformation. It is often the root cause of failed public policy. Without accurate, complete, and transparent information, citizens cannot make informed decisions, Congress cannot govern responsibly, and unnecessary wars, economic harm, and public distrust can continue. I would promote access to reliable government data, strengthen protections for whistleblowers, require greater transparency from federal agencies, and support independent review of major government claims. Democracy depends on people having the facts needed to hold their leaders accountable.
Campaign websiteStalcup's campaign website stated the following:HealthcareThe rising cost of healthcare is not an accident—it’s the result of a system that allows pharmaceutical companies and entrenched interests to set prices far above what families and taxpayers should be paying. In Massachusetts, many working families are paying hundreds to over a thousand dollars a month when you include premiums, deductibles, and prescription costs. At the same time, we already have systems that deliver care at little or no cost—proving that lower-cost care is possible. The problem is that too many families fall into the gap, forced to shoulder a burden that continues to grow year after year.I will take on the root causes of these costs directly. That starts with immediate, broad drug price negotiation—without artificial limits on which drugs are included. We cannot continue with a system that protects monopoly pricing while families struggle to afford basic medications. We also need to open the door to real competition, including allowing safe, equivalent generics to enter the market and ensuring that public investment in research translates into affordable prices for the public. We can support innovation without forcing people to pay inflated prices at the pharmacy counter. We must also ensure our kids don’t start to smoke or use drugs, and to do that we must begin, right now, to use funds from the burgeoning cannabis and vaping industries to fund aggressive prevention: implement hard-hitting local and national public messaging campaigns — like the highly successful ‘Don’t Be a Butthead’ anti-smoking effort at the turn of the century — that make it clear to kids it is not cool to vape, use nicotine, or consume cannabis; block all related advertising everywhere; and create strong disincentives for social media companies and influencers who portray positive or casual usage of any such products. This campaign is about restoring balance, accountability, and healthy choices. Healthcare should not be a system where costs rise unchecked while the burden falls on families, towns, and small businesses. It should be a system that delivers high-quality care at a fair price—and that requires leadership willing to confront powerful interests and change the structure that allows these costs to persist. That’s exactly what I intend to do.Foreign PolicyFor decades, the United States has too often entered wars of choice that have produced destruction, loss of life, and long-term instability—without making our country safer. We must be clear-eyed about this history and committed to doing better. At the same time, the world is becoming an increasingly dangerous place. America must maintain the strongest defense in the world—backed by world-class intelligence and highly capable special operations forces. That strength is essential to deter adversaries, protect our interests, and keep Americans safe.To achieve this, we must limit the role of those with financial interests in war to technical and advisory functions—not policy decisions. Their continued influence in broader decision-making has too often contributed to misleading narratives that go insufficiently challenged by politicians and, at times, the media. The result has been costly engagements that burden our military families, strain our resources, and erode public trust. We must set a higher standard: war must always be a last resort, grounded in clear evidence, defined objectives, and a realistic path to success. Congress must fully exercise its constitutional responsibility before authorizing the use of force, and the American people deserve transparency and accountability when such decisions are made.My approach is straightforward: maintain unmatched defensive strength, avoid unnecessary conflicts, and hold all actors accountable—including our own defense contractors—when failures occur. I have long opposed wars that lack clear justification, and I will continue to do so. At the same time, I recognize and respect the critical role of those who serve and those who build the systems that protect them. We can support a strong national defense while ensuring that decisions are made responsibly, honestly, and in the true interest of the American people—not driven by inertia, misinformation, or special interests.EnvironmentHuman-induced climate change is real and measurable. This is not a matter of opinion—it is supported by overwhelming evidence. As a physicist and the founder of an environmental monitoring company with systems deployed from the Arctic to Antarctica, I’ve worked directly with the kind of data that makes this clear. We should approach this issue with the same seriousness and rigor we would apply to any other scientific problem—grounded in evidence, not politics. At the same time, maintaining public trust requires honesty and accountability. Politicians have made irresponsible claims and critics are right to question them. That does not invalidate the broader reality of climate change—but it does highlight the importance of transparency and scientific integrity. We should welcome scrutiny, demand high standards, and ensure that policy decisions are based on solid, verifiable evidence. The strength of the science depends on our willingness to hold it to those standards. We also need practical, results-driven solutions. That means investing in technologies that reverse environmental impact without undermining economic stability. It means supporting innovation while ensuring that public resources are used responsibly and effectively. Addressing climate change is not just about recognizing the problem—it’s about solving it in a way that is honest, accountable, and grounded in reality.— Thomas Stalcup's campaign website (August 28, 2026)Note: This text is quoted verbatim from the original source.
