In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a mother, a former teacher and a life-long Democrat with a proven track record of community service and organizing. While living in Taiwan with my family, I worked with Democrats Abroad to help promote candidates throughout the United States, to register voters and with efforts to Get Out the Vote. Since moving back to Georgia, I have become increasingly concerned about the direction the Trump administration has taken towards authoritarianism. I am seeking to unseat the incumbent, a life-long Republican, because Georgia voters deserve to feel secure in our healthcare and in the ability to afford a life where we can all thrive. We know that the environment cannot take care of itself, without government to defend our air and water, what will we leave for future generations?

At the heart of this campaign is the belief that this is a critical moment for American democracy. Communities across the country are feeling the strain of deep political division, and many people feel disconnected from the political process or discouraged from speaking openly with neighbors about issues that matter to everyone. I believe that one of the most important roles of a state representative is to help rebuild those connections. My campaign will focus on engaging directly with voters, encouraging dialogue, and carrying forward conversations, questions, and ideas that will help to make government work for the people and not for the privileged few.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Access to quality, affordable healthcare is not a luxury, it is a right. I will work to make that a reality for all Georgians. My goal is that no one in Georgia should fear the next health crisis. Quality of life depends on good health; Georgia lawmakers must create an environment that values prevention over intervention. Our lawmakers must seek ways to encourage doctors and nurses to practice in Georgia. Medicaid must be expanded in Georgia so that more people have access to care.Free and fair elections are the foundation of our American Democracy. I will work to expand voting access in Georgia to ensure that everyone who wants to cast a ballot can do so with ease and confidence knowing their vote will be counted.Women must be trusted to make decisions for themselves in all aspects of our lives, including healthcare. I will work to repeal the 'heartbeat bill' so that women and doctors can speak freely about important health matters. I will work to protect reproductive freedoms.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am passionate about environmental protections, fertility freedoms, improving public education, delivering on responsible gun ownership laws, and ensuring that all who live and work in my district have options for housing.
