Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I had loving, encouraging parents and grew up with a sense of humor, wonder, adventure, and an insatiable desire to learn. The Air Force moved us every 9 to 18 months so I experienced most of America at an early age. Church and Boy Scouts were a huge part of my life. I played guitar in our choir bands. Earning merit badges gave me a broad understanding of many subjects. Both helped me to form my morality, ethics and character and understand my obligation to serve others. I traveled the world in the Navy, and spent 19 years in college.
, I am a GSU Business School graduate. I have the education necessary to fulfill the position. I have over 20 years in IT and database administration experience. The Navy taught me computer and programming skills, but most importantly taught me how to analyze systems. Many components make up our election system and each has vulnerabilities needing improvements to make our elections trustworthy. Also, as a business analyst, I see great opportunities for improvements in many of the SOS functions.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
I will restore confidence in Georgia’s Election system via hand counting paper ballots with full public transparency, enforcing signature match for absentee ballots, verifying voter ID, and allowing public audits.I will return the Voter Registration Data Base to state control, end the contracts with Election Registration Information Systems, SalesForce and MTX Group, maintain clean voter rolls using the National Change of Address system and the Social Security Association Death Registry.. I will enforce the State ad Federal requirements that any voting system complies with all applicable laws, including Cyber and Infrastructure Security Act, Federal Information Security Modernization Act, Help America Vote Act, Voting Rights Act, and Title 21 of the O.C.G.A., which our current system does not.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Georgia’s voting laws are among the best in the US, however it is the computers and electronic tabulation that needs to be scrapped in favor of hand counting ballots at the precinct level. I would strengthen requirements for absentee ballot requests and signature verification, get us out of the ERIC system, and enact better practices to ensure clean voter rolls, withdraw from Motor Voter registration, and scrutinize groups and organizations funded to push voter registration drives as their main mission. I would push legislation to ensure that any company or organization that contracts with the state, counties, or municipalities, must provide public access to background checks of their employees. And if possible, make election day a holiday and limit voting to only a few days prior.
What qualities does this office possess that makes it a unique and important part of the state government and legal system?
First and foremost, the foundation of our Representative Republic is grounded in our right to vote for the candidate of our choice. Upholding the right to vote is the most important position in the State.
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
Too many to list but my list includes philosophers, religious figures, great generals, architects, explorers, scientists, inventors, innovators, writers, poets, composers, great statesmen and even a few comedians.
Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?
The Law by Frederic Bastiat and the Book of Deuteronomy.
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
It is my firm belief is that any person seeking elected office understands the English Common Law tradition upon which our Republic was founded and that has the character and integrity to uphold the US and State Constitutions with the conviction to apply the principal that government is restricted and constrained by those documents, including the separation of powers among the 3 branches.
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
I am a unique human.
I started life as the son of an US Air Force pilot, lived in 13 states by age 11. Being raised in the cultural diversity of base housing makes it easy for me to recognize the propaganda employed by the powers that be to perpetuate and incite the tension that keeps all Americans from enjoying “Domestic Tranquility.”
I spent many years working my way through college as a carpenter, a chef, a salesman, a sailor, an entrepreneur in the Satellite Telecommunications, Insurance and Financial Industry and in Internet Technology. I studied Organic Chemistry at the University of Georgia and gained employment as a Scientist, heading the Research Division of a major consumer products corporation. After burning out on corporate culture, I had a career in Risk Management and Insurance thanks to the Business Administration degree from Georgia State University. I built and ran an Insurance Agency, and eventually retired from a career as an Insurance and Financial Professional.
Since 2012 I have been an Activist fighting to restore the Rule of Law and to stop the Corporate Takeover of the Government. I’ve been tirelessly engaged to affect people’s attitudes about Liberty and Self Determination with involvement in many groups and organizations to steer elected officials towards smaller, fiscally responsible, constitutional government.
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
Upholding the duly legislated laws of the State.
What legacy would you like to leave?
A YouTube channel that doesn't get terminated - like my channel that was terminated just after the Georgia Primaries that had over 8 years and 600 videos of activism, committee hearings, rallies, events, lectures, and truthful presentations that didn't go along with the main stream narrative.
What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?
At the ripe age of 6, my family and I mourned the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
I worked at a commercial nursery and florist for over two years in High School.
What is your favorite book? Why?
The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran . It is a beautiful overview of the human journey through life.
If you could be any fictional character, who would you want to be?
Willy Wonka
What was the last song that got stuck in your head?
Get Lucky by Daft Punk (LOL)
What is something that has been a struggle in your life?
Witnessing the destruction of America is an ongoing struggle. The debasement of culture, the corruptioin of our institutions (church, family, education, journalism, etc.), the overreach of government, endless war, unequal justice, and so much more.
What responsibilities of this office do you personally consider the most important?
Ensuring a verifiable and transparent election is certainly a part of this. Ensuring that voters have access to cast their vote is as well. Protecting elections from bad actors attempting to unlawfully or unfairly influence the outcome should be the the highest priority.
Are there any little-known powers or responsibilities held by this office that you believe more people should be aware of?
Many are aware of the Business and Professional Licensing functions of the SOS's office, few are aware of the Securities Division which acts to protect Georgians from frauds, and the Charities Division which oversees non-profits but needs to more to investigate scams by those masquerading as charities to bilk consumers.
The least known or understood function of the SOS is to be the Record Keeper in Chief. To me, this is a very important part of the office - to accurately record and disseminate all of the documents generated throughout the bodies that make up the government of Georgia.
Do you believe that it's beneficial for holders of this office to have previous experience in government or politics?
No. This is one position in the Executive branch that is not well served by anyone that has strong party ties to others in government or around government.
What kind of skills or expertise do you believe would be the most helpful for the holders of this office to possess?
The Secretary of State needs to understand how business is best conducted and in these days of computerization needs to understand computer technology and database administration. Furthermore, any SOS must be expert in statistics and the law of large numbers. It is also important to understand Title 21 of the Georgia Code and all of the Federal rules, regulations and codes that cover voting and voting rights.
Tell us your favorite joke.
