In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Tawn is a lifelong Michigander, proud Republican, and community leader from Northfield Township. She and her husband Gerry have been married 37 years and have made Northfield Township their home since 2015.

She previously served as Northfield Township Trustee from 2016 to 2020. Tawn currently serves as Vice-Chair of the Washtenaw County Republican Committee (elected by precinct delegates), sits on the Executive Committee of the 6th Congressional District Republican Committee, and was a delegate to the 2024 Republican National Convention.

My main objective as a senator will be to reduce the cost of living for you and your loved ones – frankly for ALL of Michiganders by focusing on the following.

Eliminating burdensome regulations - In 2023 laws were passed by the democrat-controlled leadership in Lansing mandating changes to Michigan’s energy policies resulting in rate hikes passed on to customers. (AKA the clean energy mandates).

Restoring Due process - Currently a gunowner may have their lawfully owned firearms confiscated from them though no conviction of a crime has occurred. I support repealing the “red flag laws” implemented in 2023.

Restoring Respect for Life – At this time the extinguishing of life in the womb is legal throughout pregnancy. I would like to lead in the efforts to restore the VALUE of life, beginning with protecting the unborn from unnecessary (non- medical reasons) late-term abortions.

Wishing you and the ones you love, all the Lord’s blessings.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Lower the cost of living - Find and eliminate wasteful spending and make Michigan more affordable for families and small businesses. Repeal the impractical clean energy by 2040 mandates that are driving utility bills up, and prohibit Lansing from adding new costs onto working households. and fight taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security so families keep more of what they earn. I strongly support keeping your money in your community. You and your community know better than Lansing, how and what to spend your money and your community resources on.Education – Michigan public schools have moved so far away from what we know as “education”, creating a dire need to return to a “classical education” where basics are not compromised, and intellectual growth and development are stimulated. The state of Mississippi has seen a tremendous improvement in literacy rates – perhaps Michigan can take a page from their model. Also, parental access to curricula, teacher aids, and texts as well as full transparency of what happens in their child’s classroom must be available to all parents simply and without restrictions. I will be there to support and protect girls and women’s sports and spaces… no men allowed!Support Local Control – Regarding Data Centers and other significant developments, the local government closest to the people, ought to have the say as to what major changes are introduced into their community. Having served as a township trustee, the importance of local control must be respected.

Re-instate Right to Work - Gives Michigan workers the freedom to choose to join a union, and can provide Michigan with an economic competitive edge.

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I have been happily married for 34 years and have resided in Northfield Township since 2015. I have a passion for liberty and enjoy making new friends.

My brother, sister, and I enjoyed childhood in Michigan with the 5 of us living in a small ranch house in Westland. An associate's degree in Applied Sciences from Schoolcraft College followed my 1983 graduation from Wayne Memorial High School. As a small business owner, I enjoyed an amateur career as a performing artist under the stage name 'Lemon James.' I have enjoyed running races and occasional marathons, completing the Boston Marathon in 2004. But my latest adventure is exploring Ham radio with my recently acquired general class license.

The game of politics… My foray into politics began in 2008 when folks were tripping over themselves to support a presidential candidate they knew little about. Becoming a Wayne County precinct delegate and a member of the Wayne County Republican Committee, I assisted with many local candidate campaigns. From 2016-2020, I served as an elected trustee in the township of Northfield in Washtenaw County. Becoming active in the Washtenaw Republican party, I co-chaired the "Take Back Our Schools" committee and assisted with various candidate campaigns. I have worked election cycles as an Election Inspector for Northfield Township and Washtenaw County.
