In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I’m a 52 year old working-class Hoosier by choice. I’ve spent more than 28 years at FedEx, started a small business with my wife, and built a nonprofit from the ground up. I grew up on a cotton farm in Louisiana, so I know the value of hard work, keeping your word and looking out for your neighbors. That’s how I’ll serve.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

I’m running because regular working people deserve somebody at the Statehouse who understands their lives. I know what it’s like to work for a paycheck, watch grocery and gas prices climb and wonder where the money is going to come from. I want to stand up for working Hoosiers—not corporations, lobbyists or special interests.Putting PEOPLE before Data centers, Affordability and access to healthcare are my top priorities. Working people are paying more for groceries, fuel, housing and healthcare while corporations continue receiving special deals. I’ll fight wasteful spending, corporate giveaways and policies that drive up family costs, while protecting Medicaid and access to affordable healthcare for Hoosiers who need it. NO TAX BREAKS FOR DATA CENTERS. Indiana needs to put a pause on any data center construction. If and when, we decide to move forward, these corporations need to pay their fair share. They should pay for any additional power needed, not the existing customers. NO CORPORATE TAX BREAKS.The voters come first. Period. I’m proud to be a Democrat, but my constituents are the people who elected me. If my party wants one thing and the people in my district need something different, I’ll listen to my constituents and make my own decision. I’m not going to Indianapolis to be anybody’s rubber stamp.

I believe in being responsible with taxpayer money, but balancing a budget by taking healthcare away from people who need it isn’t good government. We should go after fraud, waste and inefficiency while protecting coverage for children, seniors, people with disabilities and working Hoosiers. Healthcare shouldn’t be something a family loses because they hit a rough patch.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Protecting the rights of the people. Farmers should not be forced to sell their land. Hoosiers should not pay more than their fair share of taxes. We need to keep our rural hospitals open and fully funded. We need to fully fund our Public schools for the benefit of all.
