In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a retired educator and proud Northland resident running for State Representative in House District 17. As a single mom raising two daughters, I returned to college to earn a degree and began a career teaching junior high and high school math. That experience shaped my deep understanding of the challenges working families face and strengthened my commitment to opportunity, fairness, and community. Over nearly three decades in public education as a classroom teacher, instructional leader, and district administrator, I worked directly with students, families, and educators to turn research into results and ensured that every child had access to high-quality education.

I am also a grandmother and community member who believes that doing things is more important than going along just to get along. I'm running to bring practical, people-first solutions to our communities and to fight for policies in Jefferson City that strengthen schools, support workers, protect personal freedoms, and build thriving communities across Clay County.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Strong public schools are essential for a healthy community, economy, and democracy. I will work to ensure that public schools have adequate funding, have respect for educators’ expertise and working conditions, and have safe, high-quality learning environments. Public schools are the heart of our communities and I am committed to protecting and strengthening them for today’s students and tomorrow’s workforce.Everyone deserves fair pay, safe working conditions, and respect on the job. I will always protect workers from exploitation, strengthen economic security, and ensure people have a real voice at work. Working families deserve stability and dignity. Getting ahead should not feel like an impossible uphill battle.Healthcare should be accessible, affordable, and safe for every Missourian. I support fairness and equity in care and that bodily freedom is the foundation for all other freedoms.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am passionate about supporting public education because it provides every child with the opportunity to learn, grow, and reach their full potential regardless of their background or income. Strong public schools help create informed citizens, strengthen communities, and open doors to future opportunities. By investing in public education, we can help ensure that all students have access to quality educators, resources, and learning environments that prepare them for success in life.
