Steve Zorn believes in the power of bold, inclusive reform to root out corruption in government and put power in the hands of the people.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
A decentralized currency that is owned by the people and not the state is the most important tool that we have in the struggle for human rights around the world todayIntellectual property law and patent law reform are paramount in building the economy of the future with decentralized currency. Recycling should be prioritized to meet future manufacturing tech and local economic development. Stop the siphon of wealth to the parasite class. We have the resources to provide a baseline safety net for all people and should do so.Ending the for profit justice and healthcare systems in this country. Focus on improving the overall health in our communities with universal healthcare. Work to end the cycle of violence plaguing our world. Divert resources from the Military and Prison Industrial Complexes to criminal justice reform and aid programs.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Human Rights.
One of our most important human rights is to own our currency and is a top priority. Fighting to keep our 1st and 2nd amendments intact is important, as well as making sure everyone has access to clean air, water, and food. People have the right to an education and a transparent government.
Privacy.
Stop government spying and propaganda programs on US citizens. Allow people to opt out of data collection or sharing. All data collection should be opt-in with details on what data is collected and how it will be used. You should be informed when your data changes ownership or a breach is made.
Journalism.
Protections for whistleblowers is vital to a transparent government. Protections for journalist like Gary Webb, Kurt Sonnenfeld, and Julian Assange who bring to light government wrongdoing is key for an open and free society. The "Panama Papers" tax evasion should have sparked more then just the death of journalist Daphne Galizia.
Foreign Policy.
End the wars, all of them. Create policies that deal with cyber warfare as well as financial, biological, chemical, psychological, and space weapons and their uses. End U.S. support for the genocide of the Palestinian and Yemen people. Hold leaders accountable for war crimes as well as unauthorized and unconstitutional interventions overseas.
What qualities does the U.S. House of Representatives possess that makes it unique as an institution?
U.S. House of Representatives should possess qualities of diversity. Diversity in their experiences, knowledge, and skills make for a unique institution to effectively discuss diverse issues facing our nation.
Do you believe that it's beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics?
I do believe that there are benefits to having a representative having previous experience in government or politics as I believe that a representative having previous experience in government or politics is a disadvantage.
What do you perceive to be the United States' greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?
I perceive returning the control of our money back to the people as the United States' greatest challenge as a nation over the next decade as it has been over the last century.
What are your thoughts on term limits?
I support term limits. Term limits limits power concentration and promotes diversity. Serving should be a civic duty, not a career.
