Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Stephen was born in a rural south Georgia town in Coffee County Georgia. He was the youngest of 8 children born to Jesse and Carilon Acorn. Raised in a poverty stricken home, he was the first of the children to have the ability to finish high school and attend and graduate college. He graduated from Columbus State University in 2009 with his bachelors degree in marketing. He learned the value of hard work early on as he worked and went to school full time from 2003-2009. He is still currently employed with the same company and just celebrated his 20th work anniversary in December of 2023.
Stephen has always been passionate about servitude and helping his fellow man/woman. From helping people kickstart their professional careers and assisting them to move up the corporate ranks, to serving on the board of directors for his local chamber, his desire is to see others thrive. He now looks to bring that same passion to the Georgia House of Representatives so that he can see the people of district 137 reach their God given potential.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Mr. Acorn looks to promote an economic environment where everyone thrives. In order to make this happen the horrid job that has been done by the current administration has to be corrected so that inflation can be tamed and the dollar’s purchasing power can get back to where it once was prior to 2021.Mr. Acorn is also passionate about immigration. He fully supports immigration to the US, when done legally. However, the influx of undocumented immigrants have put a strain on our economy and has diverted our government’s focus and our country’s resources from our own citizens. Crime has soared in cities due to this mass migration of undocumented immigrants and innocent American citizens have lost their lives because of it. This is not okay and will not be tolerated any longer. The education of our children and grandchildren will ultimately shape the future of our country. We need to insure that all children have access to a top notch education and not let a zip code determine the quality of education received . Mr. Acorn believes in school choice and also believes that charter schools may be able to fill a void that may be missing in certain locales.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Economy, Education, Immigration, Healthcare
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
Jesus Christ
If we tried to follow his example every day we would live in a perfect society.

Integrity
Honesty
Accountability
Love for all people
What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?
The love that I have for people and the desire to be the best at everything I do.
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
To insure that promises made are promises kept. An elected official should act not in their own interests but in the interests of the people that they were elected by to serve.
What legacy would you like to leave?
That anytime my name is mentioned people would say they never knew a more kind hearted genuine person.
What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?
9/11 will always be engraved in my memory. It was 10 days before I turned 18 and I was in history class in high school.

It’s a partnership to work for the greater good of our communities and the state of Georgia as a whole.
What do you perceive to be your state's greatest challenges over the next decade?
Illegal Immigration
Do you believe that it’s beneficial for state legislators to have previous experience in government or politics?
Absolutely not. Mr. Acorn believes that is what’s wrong with our country. We have too many professional politicians and not enough people called to serve because of the love they have for the people they are supposed to represent.
Do you believe it’s beneficial to build relationships with other legislators? Please explain your answer.
No doubt it. Mr. Acorn believes this should also be the case regardless of party affiliation as this is how legislators best serve the interests of their constituents.
Is there a particular legislator, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?
Zell Miller
Are you interested in running for a different political office (for example, the U.S. Congress or governor) in the future?
If the Lord places it in my path, then absolutely.
Should the legislature oversee or grant the use of emergency powers?
It depends on the event
What is the first bill you would introduce if elected?
Naturalized Voting/Public Services Act
Bill will prohibit undocumented immigrants the ability to vote regardless if they are given citizenship status. In order to vote or receive public services they will have to complete the legal path of citizenship that all legal immigrants follow.
What committees interest you?
Economic Development, Insurance, Health, Education. However, it would be an honor to serve in whatever capacity he is asked to.
What are your views on financial transparency and government accountability?
Every dollar spent should be accounted for and the people should be able to see how their tax dollars are being spent.
