In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I'm a 40 year resident of District 56. I've been married for 30 years. I'm committed to helping my district the best that I can. I work hard for the things I believe in; my family, my community, my church, and fight for better equality for all. We are facing an uphill climb fighting for Missouri to properly fund everything Missourians need (schools, hospitals, farms, Medicaid, infrastructure). The Republican party has only wealthy people in mind with all the tax cuts they are proposing. I can't stand idly by while this continues to happen. I have 3 daughters and I need to be in Jefferson City securing their rights. I need to be in Jefferson City for my Dad and my husband, to protect the unions and keep us from going to a right to work state. I believe in Democracy "by the people, for the people". We need to get back to voting in people not politicians.

As for me, on a personal note, I've always seen myself as a free spirit. I enjoy music (I work concerts, go to about 4 concerts a year), riding with my husband on the Harley, going to Table Rock Lake (been going to same area since I was 12), spending family time with our daughters (25, 27, 31), bowling, karaoke, the zoo (I love animals).

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

I will fight for affordability. Income inequality is out of control. It needs to be recognized and stopped. Right now in our legislature (which has a Republican super majority) they are trying to get rid of income tax and replace it with a massive sales tax hike on everything including goods and services (which we don't pay sales tax on at this moment). This once again benefits the rich. They will get the biggest tax cut, while all of us will be paying more on sales tax to offset their tax cut.I want to get rid of school vouchers. In the Constitution it states separation of church and state. No public funds should be used as a credit for private schools. If you want your child to go to a private school, that is your choice, but government shouldn't be helping you pay for it. School of choice should not be allowed either. They are proposing that you can choose any school for your child to attend. Whatever school you pick gets the public tax funds. Both of these only hurt the disadvantaged. They may not have transportation so if a bunch leave their school district for other schools, the school their "stuck in" will eventually be underfunded. In our district we have to constantly deal with the bottleneck of I-49 at 155th St. Jefferson City had agreed that MODOT was going to expand I-49 to 6 lanes to Cass Pkwy. They have now decided that they are only going to expand to 6 lanes to 58 Hwy, which is our busiest exit. This is going to be worse than the bottleneck at 155th. In all honesty I-49 needs to be expanded to 6 lanes an additional 21 miles to 7 South to handle the lake traffic, but I would be happy if we could get it to Peculiar for now. We need someone from our area representing us in Jefferson City that actually knows the area. Sen Rick Brattin and Rep Michael Davis have done nothing to help this area.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

School vouchers, Women's rights, Voter's rights, Affordability, protection for our LGBTQIA+, Income Inequality, Protection for workers
