In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I am an immigrant of almost 50 years. My parents brought us here in search of the American Dream; they wanted more for us than they had. We hailed from the small Caribbean island chain of St. Vincent and the Grenadines where there were limited opportunities for us. Many years later, I find myself wanting to pay back the debt to a nation that embraced us and that, years later, used its resources to save my life. This is still a nation where there are still countless possibilities and where, by God's grace, dreams still come true. Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
My focus is on Legacy Legislation not just immediate issues, such as:
Education: As a former educator, most recently here in Columbia teaching U.S. History and the Constitution to high school juniors, I realized our education system is in the bottom 10th of the 50 United States. Our kids depend on AI to think for them and reading, writing, and arithmetic as very low as well.Economy/Energy: With the current cost of living, families need access to more of their own hard-earned dollars. That means lessen their tax burden as well regulations which results in price hikes. Offer more incentives for business/employers to move into the state. Support small businesses. Lower energy prices as these affects all other prices.
This also addresses the possible correlation between more economic opportunities and crime. By fixing the economy we would also be addressing the issue of crime in those problem areas.Infrastructure: We need to do something about our roads, especially with so many new families and businesses moving into the state. Previous efforts are just not addressing the problem fast enough. The roads throughout the city need attention and particularly in portions of district 78. Bad roads ruin transportation, which exacerbates the existing problem of affordability in our state.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am passionate about areas that are crucial and life-giving to individuals and families:
The U.S. Constitution can aid in this area. For instance, the sanctity of life because that's where it all starts. You can't have "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" if life itself is jeopardized in the mother’s womb. Exemplary education where kids do not have to contend with issues unrelated to education, such as the confusion of transgenderism. The economy, we need to make sure families can have a decent standard of living without having to decide whether to eat, put gas in the car, or buy medicine. Families should not have to engage in this juggling act.
