Campaign websiteCherfilus-McCormick's campaign website stated the following:Housing SolutionsWe must implement real solutions to address the housing crisis in South Florida. I'm working hard to deliver the resources we need for housing and homeownership.Secure funding to provide relief for rental & mortgage assistance.Ensure sufficient affordable housing & workforce housing in the district.Oversight to ensure funding is properly allocated and reaching those who need it most.Economic JusticeApproximately 30% of our District's residents live on under $75K a year, while 21% live on under $30K. The “People’s Prosperity Plan” is a holistic economic growth proposal that includes:Providing qualifying constituents with a universal basic income of $1,000 a month to help the district recover from the unemployment, evictions, and other economic downturns caused by the pandemic. Fighting for legislation to help the community by raising minimum wage to $20/hour to meet the critical needs caused by inflation and the district’s growing housing crisis.Empowering small businesses with the tools and resources to acquire (seek) federal contracts, pulling down federal dollars. Strengthening our small business community will create more sustainable jobs and competitively position the district to retain homegrown talent.Health Care ReformApproximately 33% of the District's residents are between 50-69 years of age. Nearly 30 million people in our country lack access to quality health coverage. Health care is a human right. Medicare For All is a larger push for a universal healthcare system and will be one of my main priorities. I vow to take affirmative action toward ending Healthcare disparities. "We can no longer allow money or race to be a determining factor of who lives or dies in America."An aggressive approach to preventive health care must be implemented to improve the overall health of our district.Social JusticeWe must ensure our fight for social justice does not slip into the unjust policies of the past. There can be no social justice without economic justice. We must ensure that Black and Brown communities get the resources they deserve. Sheila will fight to dismantle discriminatory policies, police brutality, and systemic racism. We will not standby while our voting rights are under attack by the far-right. Congress must pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.Immigration ReformDistrict 20 is home to over 263,749 immigrants, nearly 35% of our population, contributing 5.1 billion dollars to our economy. Yet there is no clear path to integrating these contributors to our American society, through citizenship. Our immigration policy is unsustainable, inhumane, and counterproductive. It's time for Congress to pass a sustainable long term bill, creating a clear Pathway to Citizenship. We must get rid of Title 42, restore asylum rules, and expand opportunities for migrants to apply for residency or TPS, limiting TPS to one year, and shortening the wait for residency abroad.— Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick's campaign website (June 23, 2026)Note: This text is quoted verbatim from the original source. Campaign website

The following themes were listed on Cherfilus-McCormick's campaign website.

Economic Justice

I will go to Congress and be a solid vote for increasing the minimum wage to $20.00 per hour. I also fully support both the Paycheck Fairness Act and Grace Meng’s Marshall Plan for Moms. I am a firm believer in the Union movement, and I will make it my mission to stand with workers in support of the PRO ACT.

Medicare For All

It is unconscionable that we live in the world’s richest nation and all can’t afford quality healthcare. Medicare for All will be one of my main priorities. As a CEO of a health care company, I am uniquely qualified to advocate for the passage of this legislation. Medicare for All should be a human right and I will work hard for its passage.

Support Our Seniors

I will fight to pass my People’s Prosperity Plan which enriches all of our seniors. The $1,000 per month relief will be in addition to any benefits that are being received. These checks can be used to visit loved ones, spend on housing or health care needs, and act as a backstop for any unexpected expenses that may arise.

Green New Deal

The Green New Deal must get a vote in Congress. Our environment must be protected for the future of our children and the next generation. Bold steps must be taken to ensure that we have clean water and breath clean air. Climate Change is real! We must combat its adverse effects on our precious natural resources at all cost.

Immigration Reform

Immigration Reform must happen this year. We have Democrat majorities in Congress. NOW IS THE TIME to pass a Pathway to Citizenship Bill. A vote must be taken and a Law enacted that will protect our neighbors from being discriminated against simply because they were not born in this country.

Legalize Cannabis

Now is the time to legalize and TAX cannabis! Many people are being incarcerated for crimes in Florida that would not be in other states. We can't wait for the GOP in Tallahassee to pass this legislation. We need a national policy on cannabis and I will fight hard to get this forward thinking idea passed in Congress!

LGBTQ+ Rights

There’s much to be done regarding LGBTQ rights. I am a proud supporter of the Equality Act and I will lobby hard with the Human Rights Campaign when I get to Congress for its passage. This law will codify the Supreme Court ruling that said employers who fire workers for being gay are violating civil rights law.

Reproductive Rights

We must repeal the Hyde Amendment. For too long women have been discriminated against when it comes to reproductive rights. Our Democrat majority must go back and undo the bad bills passed by Republican’s when they held our nation hostage. The GOP must stop telling women what to do with their own bodies![4][5]
