In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Shana Anderson is a US Army Veteran, a mom, and an economist.

As an Army Veteran Shana knows what it means to stand up and serve the people of the United States. She knows how to work with people of all different backgrounds and experiences to accomplish a mission. She is ready to defend and protect our constitutional values.

As a mom, Shana is focused on a better future for our children. Our children need affordable homes, clean air, clean water, better schools, and a community that works together.

As an economist, Shana knows what is going wrong with our economy, and what we can do to fix it. The cost of living has been skyrocketing, wages are falling, and jobs are disappearing. We have to create fair, responsible taxes that don't distort the market. We have to increase wages, and we have to promote entrepreneurship through better market structure.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Accountability and Fair Play:

The government should answer to the people, not rewrite the rules whenever voters stand in its way.

Utahns believe in fairness, accountability and limited government. That means politicians should follow

the same rules as everyone else, judges should remain independent and the Legislature should respect

decisions made by Utah voters.

No politician should be able to write the rules, choose the referees and overturn the result.

Our current legislature has demonstrated that they are serving their own interests, not the people's interests. They have been working to consolidate power and consistently ignore the voice of the people.Housing and Family:

A home should be the foundation of a family’s security—not a profit center for insiders who write the rules.

Utah families are working harder than ever and still struggling to afford a place to live. Parents should not

have to wonder whether their children will ever be able to buy a home in the communities where they grew up.

We need more attainable housing, greater transparency and basic protections for families facing financial

hardship. Government should help Utahns build stable lives—not design the system around the interests

of landlords, developers and eviction attorneys.Natural Heritage:

Utah’s land and water belong to its people, not to the highest bidder.

As an economist, I see a state giving away our most precious resource - water - for pennies on the dollar

to benefit overseas interests.

Protecting Utah’s natural heritage means managing our resources responsibly, preserving them for future

generations and putting Utah communities ahead of politically connected special interests.

We need water in the Great Salt Lake, we need to protect our canyons, and we need to protect our public lands.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am personally passionate about our economy. I believe that when Utahns have a strong economy, we also have strong families and strong communities.

Housing in particular is the foundation for stable families, strong communities, and a growing economy.

We know that families suffer if they have to move often. We know that high costs increase homelessness. We know that unaffordable rent lowers entrepreneurial activity.

We have to protect our housing market from private equity ownership, predatory lending, and rental price collusion.

We can fix this problem - if we have the political will.
