In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am from a family of farmers, public servants, and entrepreneurs. I will always question whether any bill or initiative is transparent and democratic to maintain high trust with constituents.

I believe my district will benefit from my 25 years of public accounting and corporate leadership experience. I am a current CPA firm owner.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Voters in my community want to maintain local control over unwanted landfills and data centers being built near schools and residences.

I plan to partner with local commissions and executives and community organizations to adopt the County Powers Act which allows zoning over unincorporated areas, adopt and recommend the state maintain the Jackson Law which allows local government to deny permits approved by TDEC, and implement reasonable municipal zoning.Voters continuously tell me they want to see an increase in the 2-bedroom rental housing supply to meet any market gaps in demand as well as local availability of jobs earning more than $25/hour.

I plan to implement county-specific supply increase goals for 2-bedroom rentals (for example, Scott county should bring 1,000 additional 2-bedroom rentals to the supply) to address waiting lists and rent increases in excess of income recommendations.

Once housing supply is balanced, I plan to work with economic development boards and county leaders to attract higher-earning small businesses and remote workers. In an inflationary environment such as we are navigating today, the state legislature should ensure that its constituents keep pace with higher costs thrust upon them.

When constituents pay more for gas, groceries, utilities, property taxes, insurance, healthcare, and other consumer goods the public budgets should also increase by a similar percentage continuously.

The state legislature should also take a proactive review over any pre-existing statutes that might be contributing to inflation for temporary relief (gas or grocery taxes) and resolve to communicate to federal representatives and leaders to take action to address inflationary policies.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Local jurisdiction and control, progressive taxation, inflation response, and balancing corporate incentives with roads and educational funding
