In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I’ve worked full-time since I was 16 years old, and I understand both the dignity of hard work and the importance of stable, middle-class jobs. As a former Mayor, three-term City Councilmember, and small-business owner, I’ve focused on practical, results-driven leadership. Over the past eight years, our city reduced homelessness, invested in infrastructure, improved affordability, supported local businesses, and prioritized public safety. Currently, I am serving my third term on City Council and work as the COO of a local commercial landscaping business.
As an Assemblymember, I will bring a steady, pro-worker voice to Sacramento, grounded in real governing experience and a commitment to ensuring that economic growth benefits our residents.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Funding Public Education: I will fight for stable and increased funding for public education from early childhood through higher education. That includes supporting fair pay and safe working conditions for educators and education professionals, protecting collective bargaining rights, and ensuring students have access to counseling, mental health services, and other supports that help them succeed. We also need to ensure our students of color aren’t being funneled into the school-to-prison pipeline by proactively identifying those who are struggling academically and offering support.Affordability: Educators and school employees are being priced out of the communities they serve –– forcing them to undergo long commutes every day. I will work to expand affordable housing, support accessible childcare, and reduce cost pressures so teachers, classified staff, and their families can live where they work. Furthermore, I believe we need to drive down the cost of goods and services by holding corporations accountable for price-gouging so families can afford to put food on the table.Fighting for Working People: I will stand up for working people by strengthening labor protections, opposing privatization that undermines public services, and defending retirement security and health care for public employees. Moreover, I will collaborate with local labor unions to understand their economic priorities and serve as a liaison to secure collective bargaining agreements. A strong California depends on valuing workers and investing in the public institutions that serve our communities.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
As a former small business owner, I’m interested in stimulating our economy and supporting other small businesses in our district –– all while advocating for workers. I believe in offering pathways to entrepreneurship for young Californians and bringing more jobs to our district.
Additionally, I care about improving our current infrastructure. We need to invest in public transit, pave our roads and sidewalks, increase nighttime visibility, and build more protected bike lanes to keep our residents safe.
Finally, I’m passionate about increasing political participation. Career politicians have been failing us for too long. I believe in putting Sacramento to work for us and allowing more working-class folks to get involved in policy.
What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?
