In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I was born in a Denver suburb, raised by a working class single mother who instilled into me many of the values that I hold dear. I have always had a love of music, picking up piano when I was five and participating in many musical ventures throughout my life. I discovered a love of politics around the age of ten when I became more aware of the world’s vast injustice. I dabbled in a plethora of political philosophies, eventually finding my intellectual home in the values that founded this nation: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

I have been heavily invested in national, state, and local politics for almost seven years, working with people of all backgrounds and political persuasions. I find that the more I do this, the more I love America, the more I love Colorado, and the more I love my fellow citizens that make our communities great. I have found that, despite what we are led to believe, we have a lot in common. That’s why I am building my campaign on peace, love, and common welfare.

My name is Sean Vadney, and I’m a Libertarian running for Secretary of State, because I believe in sticking to our values, we can create a state that works much better for all of us.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

Every voter in Colorado, regardless of political affiliation, should feel secure when they cast their ballot. Voting should be a straightforward process with rigorous checks involved to prevent fraud. It should be easy and affordable for every Coloradan to establish and maintain their business. It is the ingenious entrepreneurs of this great state that build our economy and support our workforce, and it should not be a complicated or expensive process to make their dreams a reality.Coloradans with disabilities may often feel disenfranchised when voting. I will produce a public Accessible Voting Report—a real, transparent document that identifies where our system is failing and what we are going to do about it.

We will implement mandatory accessibility training for every poll worker—so no voter is ever left standing there while someone “figures it out.”

We will ensure standardized accessible voting equipment statewide—including audio ballots, tactile interfaces, and systems that allow voters to cast their ballot privately, without relying on another person.

We will establish clear, legal assistance protocols—so voters are not forced into gray areas or illegal workarounds just to participate in democracy.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Voting rights, entrepreneurship, and the economy.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Integrity and an unwavering devotion to the Constitution and their constituents.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

To make elections secure and accessible, and to make all filings (business or otherwise) streamlined, straightforward, and inexpensive.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

I worked at Target for two years when I was a teenager.

Are there any little-known powers or responsibilities held by this office that you believe more people should be aware of?

More people should be aware of the massive impact the Secretary of State's office has on business and the overall economy.
