In their own words

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

I am running to get big money out of politics so our government answers to voters, not donors. I support overturning Citizens United, strict limits on campaign contributions, full disclosure of who is funding our elections, and an outright ban on members of Congress trading individual stocks. Public service should never be a way to get rich. It should be a job where ordinary people fight for their neighbors.I believe a healthy and educated community is the foundation of a strong economy. I support a universal single payer health care system so no one in Ohio has to choose between a doctor visit and rent. I want tax policy that rewards work, not wealth, and that gives real relief to the middle class and working poor. When people are healthy and secure, small businesses grow, families stay, and our towns can thrive again.I will defend and strengthen public education so every child, in every zip code in this district, has a safe and well funded school. I will fight the siphoning of public dollars into unaccountable for profit charter schemes. I want major investment in modern infrastructure, from water systems to broadband, that creates good union jobs here at home. Government should be the tool working people use to improve their lives together.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am most passionate about public policy that restores power to working people. That starts with getting big money out of politics so elected officials answer to voters, not donors. I care deeply about building a universal health care system so every person can see a doctor when they need to. I am committed to strengthening and fully funding public education, protecting workers and unions, and investing in modern infrastructure so every community in this district can thrive.

Campaign websiteConnolly's campaign website stated the following:POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY"A rising tide is supposed to lift all boats. That is the mission, and that is the standard."I believe our nation advances when we act together, and that government has a duty to build the foundation where every working family can earn a dignified life and a real future. This is not about promises that sound good on a podium. It is about the hard, practical work of building a country where effort is rewarded and the rules are fair. When someone works full time, they should be able to afford a home, raise their kids, see a doctor, and still have enough left to breathe. When a small business does things right, it should not get crushed by monopolies that rig the market. When a community pays its taxes and plays by the rules, it should not be told to accept collapsing bridges, poisoned water, and a shrinking future.Too many people have been asked to accept less while the powerful take more. That is not fate. That is a set of choices that has been made in Washington and in statehouses, year after year. We can make different choices, and we can do it with the same confidence this country had when it built the big things that still serve us today. The heart of my politics is simple. Stand with the working class, tell the truth about who is rigging the game, and fight like hell to unrig it. Every issue on this page comes back to one question. Does it expand opportunity for ordinary people and make it easier to build a good life in the Mahoning Valley and all across Ohio.KEY ISSUESPEOPLE OVER PROFITBuilders Before Billionaires.Workers deserve policymakers in Washington who put their needs first, above the endless profiteering of the Epstein class. That means policies for housing, healthcare, childcare, education, and retirement benefits that prioritize accessibility and efficiency for working people.A WASHINGTON FOR WORKERSNo Career Politicians. This should be a country of, by, and for working people— not of, by, and for the wealthy. If we’re ever going to make that a reality, we have to send working people to Washington and make sure they’re always accountable to the workers they represent. That means term limits and universal recall to stop the reign of career politicians, coupled with public elections funding to ensure working people can care for their families while they run for office, and at long last, an end to dark corporate money in our politics.A FUTURE TO BELIEVE INA Future Worth Fighting For.We all want to live in a better world, and we all want to leave it better for our children and grandchildren after us. That’s why we support investment in the infrastructure of tomorrow and a structured transition to clean energy that will ensure America’s energy independence without leaving the families and communities reliant on fossil fuel jobs behind.People Over Profit.Workers deserve policymakers in Washington who put their needs first, above the endless profiteering of the Epstein class. That means policies for housing, healthcare, childcare, education, and retirement benefits that prioritize accessibility and efficiency for working people.Universal Healthcare that puts people first, not profiteers and insurance companies. Uniting every American under a single-payer plan will allow the government to negotiate prices on every drug and procedure, saving us billions of dollars every year.Deprivatize water, sewer, electric, and gas service to ensure consistent pricing that doesn’t gouge consumers. A Housing-First Approach to fighting poverty and instability in working families, which means working with local communities to change zoning policy in pursuit of more affordable housing, and then funding those projects at a federal level.Universal Childcare through 8th grade that allows parents to work without worrying about who is caring for their children.Scrap The Cap On Social Security so that today’s young people have a retirement they can rely on. Tax The Rich to increase the cost of hoarding wealth, incentivizing billionaires and oligarchs to actually pass on the prosperity to workers while sourcing funds for programs which backstop the American Dream. Federal Funding for after-school programs that seek to enrich your child’s educational experience from elementary all the way to high school without relying on local funds.Free Community College & Trade School to prepare young people for prosperous and stable careers without trapping them in debt for the rest of their lives. Outlaw Private Prisons and reform the prison system to prioritize rehabilitation over recidivism for profit.A Washington for Workers. This should be a country of, by, and for working people— not of, by, and for the wealthy. If we’re ever going to make that a reality, we have to send working people to Washington and make sure they’re always accountable to the workers they represent. That means term limits and universal recall to stop the reign of career politicians, coupled with public elections funding to ensure working people can care for their families while they run for office, and at long last, an end to dark corporate money in our politics.Term Limits for Congresspeople and Senators to ensure they remain responsive to the people.Public Funding for elections that get rid of dark money in our politics and open the door for normal, working people to run for office without needing to pander to the rich.Establish Community Advisory Councils to involve everyday working people and experienced professionals in the policymaking process. Universal Recall initiative which allows constituents of any federal officer to recall them from office, promoting transparency and accountability. Reform the Supreme Court so that Presidents can no longer happenstance into an outsized influence on decades of American politics.Expand the House of Representatives so that representatives can represent fewer people and be more accessible and responsive to their constituents. Federally Ban partisan gerrymandering to reduce political polarization and keep elected representatives accountable. Require that PACs and SuperPACs disclose all donors and cap donations to them so that Billionaires can no longer drown out the will of the people with an endless flow of cash.A Future to Believe In.We all want to live in a better world, and we all want to leave it better for our children and grandchildren after us. That’s why we support investment in the infrastructure of tomorrow and a structured transition to clean energy that will ensure America’s energy independence without leaving the families and communities reliant on fossil fuel jobs behind.Launch Ohio’s High-Speed Rail Corridor to open up every corner of the state to new investment, new jobs, and new opportunities. Subsidize home solar and community renewable energy projects that reduce the cost of energy for Ohio communities and promote energy independence. Provide paid training to workers to future-proof America’s workforce and ensure communities and families reliant on fossil fuel jobs aren’t left behind.Work with local communities to revive community centers that promote local businesses and create positive environments for at-risk youth.Bring back the Civilian Conservation Corps and Works Progress Administration to shore up a federal jobs guarantee while providing a reliable and well-paid workforce to rebuild American infrastructure.— Sean Connolly's campaign website (May 1, 2026)Note: This text is quoted verbatim from the original source.
