In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
As a Muncie City Councilperson, I have championed accountability, transparency and fairness in city government. I view every vote through the lens of Muncie’s citizens’ best interests and I will continue to serve the residents of Muncie faithfully throughout this campaign. Integrity matters to me, and that will not change.
My experience in local government provides a unique perspective on how state-level decisions impact our everyday lives. I’m committed to advocating for the issues that hit closest to home here in District 34: housing affordability, fair wages, accessible healthcare, and strong public schools. I believe District 34 requires a representative who understands both the challenges facing us as well as our immense potential.
I will continue to advocate for and respond to my constituents’ needs. And, I will go to the Statehouse and remind the state’s decision-makers that their votes affect real people with real needs, who deserve real affordability.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Raise Minimum Wage:
A full-time job should build a life, not leave families choosing between groceries and rent. But at $7.25/hour, unchanged since 2009, that's exactly where too many Indiana workers find themselves. Meanwhile, 22 other states have already raised wages.
I support raising Indiana's minimum wage to $15/hour over three years, tying it to inflation so it doesn't quietly erode, and lifting tipped workers off the $2.13 subminimum wage. Higher wages don't just help workers; they help the whole community. More money in people's pockets means more spent at local diners, repair shops, and grocery stores. It means teachers' aides and nursing home staff can afford to live in the communities they serve.Affordable & Safe Housing
Half of Hoosiers rent, and for too many of them, one missed paycheck or unexpected bill is all it takes to face eviction. And while tenants are held strictly accountable, too many landlords dodge basic repairs and upkeep with no consequences at all.
I support limiting unjust evictions, requiring timely repairs, and expanding emergency rental aid so families can get help before they're already in crisis. Stable housing is the foundation on which everything else rests: steady work, good schools, healthy kids.
I believe renters in District 34 deserve dignity and real protections, not just responsibilities without rights.Strengthen Public Education
Over the past decade, the state has disinvested in K–12 schools, expanded private school vouchers and passed laws that undermine academic freedom in higher education. Indiana now ranks 40th nationally in educational attainment. Recent legislation has diverted hundreds of millions of public dollars to private and religious schools, imposed ideological controls on curriculum and faculty, weakened tenure protections, and created a new diploma that lowers academic expectations and restricts access to a broad, well-rounded education, making it harder for students to adapt in a changing economy. Indiana’s lack of investment in early childhood education has made preschool unaffordable or unavailable for many families.
