In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am an engineer, not a career politician. I came to America 37 years ago at age 21. My wife and I have worked hard, raised two children with strong values, both went to public schools and colleges, and both are engineers.

I graduated as a mechanical engineer in 1989 and earned a Master's in Integrated Manufacturing Systems Engineering from NC State University in 1991. I started as a shop-floor process engineer, moved to the Cleveland region in 1994, and completed my MBA at Cleveland State University through evening and weekend classes while working full-time. My wife and I started a software firm in 1996. Work often kept me on the road, but I never missed a game or a parent-teacher conference.

I'm active in my community as a CERT member, a board member of the Mayfield Village Parks and Recreation Department, and organizer of the Mayfield Village Yoga Festival since 2018. I also served as President of a national Indian-American organization of over 500,000 members across 60 communities, launching weekend schools for children, a professional/entrepreneur platform, and senior citizen services.

I'm inspired by a family legacy of service: my grandfather left a lucrative medical practice to serve a rural farming community, and his nephew, a Ramon Magsaysay Award and Templeton Prize recipient, brought social reform to millions across India.

I believe in policies that create opportunity and lift people up through education, good jobs, and affordable living.
