In 1977 we moved from St Petersburg to Arcadia Florida a small town 80 miles southeast of St Petersburg. After graduating high school in June 1982, I moved to Franklin NC to attend Western Carolina University. After 2 semesters in computer programing I enlisted in the United States Army. I attended Basic Training at FT Knox KY on July 19th, 1983 starting my military career that spanned 3 decades, 5 Continents and 15 different countries. During my military service I accumulated 95 month of Combat and served almost 14 years overseas. I have 3 children Scott, Brian, and Jennie. My wife Hae Yon (Grace) were married April 24, 1987 in Seoul, South Korea. I have 4 grandchildren Isabella, Elijah, Joseph and Jameson. I was assigned to FT Bliss in June of 2011 after volunteering for an assignment to deploy to Iraq in support of operation New Dawn with the intent of retiring to the El Paso area upon redeployment from Iraq. On March 31st 2013 I retired from the United States Army in El Paso TX.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

World Class Medical care for Veterans of El Paso by bringing in a full service VA hospital Strengthen our borders by building a physical wall in areas that CBP directs first. Increase ISR assests along border to reduce response times Get the Federal Goverment out of Education

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

States rights have been restricted by the ratification of the 17th Amendment. I will propose legislation to repeal the 17th Amendment to end popular vote for Senators and return the responsibility to the State Legislators. By doing so the States would then have their voice back at a Federal level ending much of the Federal Governments over reach.

Revise the immigrations and asylum laws requiring anyone that does not enter the United States via a Port of Entry to be removed immediately. Move Federal Immigration Judges back under the Judicial branch . Currently removal orders and warrants are not legally binding to State and local Law Enforcement. Doing so will make entering the United States illegally an enforceable crime. Anyone that enters the United States illegally be deported within 7 days of apprehension. No path to Citizenship for DACA only resident alien status.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

GEN George S Patton his candor was beyond reproach. He was a great leader of men he lead from the front and took responsiblity for his actions.

Is there a book, essay, film, or something else you would recommend to someone who wants to understand your political philosophy?

Sun Tzu

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

Elected officials are responsible to the people and to complete the work of the people for the improvement of those peoples lives.

What is the first historical event that happened in your lifetime that you remember? How old were you at the time?

The first big historical event I remember was the 1969 Apollo 11 mission to the moon.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

My first job was with DeSoto Sod Company as a laborer laying sod in new housing developments for about 2 months in 1980.

What qualities does the U.S. House of Representatives possess that makes it unique as an institution?

The U.S. House of Representatives is intended to give the average citizen a voice as to how the government should operated. We currently have many represenatives that have forgotten that they are employees of the people.

Do you believe that it's beneficial for representatives to have previous experience in government or politics?

The greatest threat to the U.S. House of Representatives is that career politians that are out of touch with the people. Experience in government or politics is not a qualifcation and should not be required. People that have long political careers tend to be the most corrupt bring those bad habits with them. I do think that military experiance should be a requirement. Most people that have served in the military have learned to work with people that they may not agree with or even like but because they look for the most efficant way to complete a task and are able to work through their differance for the greater good.

What do you perceive to be the United States' greatest challenges as a nation over the next decade?

Maintaining our Soverignty as an independant nation. The globalist threat to the United States is constant.

If you are not a current representative, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?

Armed Services Committee

Veteran Affairs

Foreign Affairs

Oversight

Do you believe that two years is the right term length for representatives?

A two year term is to short currently we only get about 9 months of work from a represenative in the span of the term. After the end of their first year in office they begin spending the bulk of their time campaigning for reelection. A 3 or 4 year term would force them to actually have to work for the people. If they decide to run for a higher office they must resign to run for that office.

What are your thoughts on term limits?

Term limits must be enacted for all elected officials people in positions of power become corrupt as time goes on. Limiting all offices to 12 years including appointed offices like the Supreme Court.

Is there a particular representative, past or present, whom you want to model yourself after?

Trey Gowdy

[the profile publisher] biographical submission form

The candidate completed [the profile publisher]'s biographical information submission form:

What is your political philosophy?

I am running for Congress as an Independent because I have heard the concerns of the people of El Paso and am tired of both the Democrats and Republicans letting us down. Let's face it, neither the Democrats nor Republicans have our best interests at heart. The parties only pretend to care about the people at election time and are more concerned about the party platform or what the lobbyists desire. We have been promised change for the better from almost everyone involved in government with none of them ever coming through for us. They hold us hostage on every issue. Whether it's taxes, immigration, or veteran's concerns, it's all ignored until election season rolls around. To sink even lower, both parties are too busy insulting each other and voting down party lines instead of coming together with a real solution for America. Finally, after the bickering has toned down, all that we are left with is higher taxes and more wars. These games are not what made America the country we all love. This needs to stop.

I and millions of Americans believe it is time for us to take back control of our country. As an Independent I will work directly for you the people. I will do everything in my power to present to the people of El Paso every piece of legislation that is to voted upon and then take action. When was the last time a member of Congress asked you which way to vote on a particular piece of legislation and followed through?

During this congressional session there have been over 6000 pieces of legislation drafted by members of Congress. Of those proposed, less than 200 have been voted into a law. My best estimate is that 75% of the bills introduced are not necessary are are designed to bog the system down and stall any real progress resulting in passing legislation that only benefits the special interests. We can't allow this to continue. I will strive to end the strife between the parties and work to get real results for the people of El Paso and the rest of the United States.

El Paso, the Democrats have represented us in Congress for decades and all that we have to show for it is high taxes and poorly paid jobs. Our military veterans are not receiving the proper care that they need, our largest school district is nearly bankrupt, our children are not being properly educated, and our border is riddled with issues. I want for my family the same thing that you want for yours; an opportunity in my own city to prosper and watch my family grow and be successful. Voting for the Democrats and Republicans will prove to change nothing for our beautiful city. Voting for an Independent will mean that you are voting for a representative who works to satisfy a party's requirements, but instead works directly for you, the people who own the government.

We have a chance to make real changes to our city. Let's not waste another opportunity on voting for a career politician who only seeks personal gain. Vote for someone who wants to make El Paso a place of prosperity for all of us! Vote for me, Sam Williams for Congress. Together we can take El Paso to another level![2]
