Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I am a neuroscientist and autism researcher at Princeton University, where I have taught for over 25 years. I enrolled at Caltech at age 15 and earned my Ph.D. from Stanford University. My work has been shaped by a commitment to education, public service, and fairness.
My parents fled mainland China in 1949, first to Taiwan and later to the United States in the 1960s. They were librarians who raised our family with a strong belief that education comes first, and that has guided my path.
Beyond my academic work, I have been involved in efforts to improve how our political system functions. I founded the Princeton Gerrymandering Project and have worked to challenge unfair electoral systems across the country, including New Jersey’s county line ballot system.
I am a former Congressional Science Fellow and have advised both the U.S. House and Senate. I live in New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District with my family, where I have also been active in community efforts including Princeton Indivisible and Princeton For All.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Congress is not functioning as it should.
The Constitution gives Congress authority over taxation, spending, and oversight. When those powers are not used, policy becomes inconsistent and accountability breaks down. My priority is to restore Congress as a working branch of government.Science, public health, and higher education are under direct pressure from federal policy decisions.
These are core drivers of economic growth and public well-being. I will work to protect research funding, restore the independence of federal agencies, and ensure that policy decisions are based on evidence. The cost of living is being driven by healthcare, housing, and uneven economic policy.
These are not isolated problems. They reflect policy choices that can be addressed at the federal level. I will focus on reducing these pressures through legislation and oversight.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
- Democracy and voting rights, including ending gerrymandering and restoring the Voting Rights Act.
- Science and technology policy, including protecting research funding and regulating AI in a way that protects workers and the public.
- Public health and healthcare access, including reducing costs and expanding coverage.
- Immigration policy, including abolishing ICE, restoring due process, and creating clear legal pathways.
- Higher education and college affordability.
What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?
- Andrew Yang
- Nobel laureates and leading scientists across New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District
