Salvatore Padellaro is a community leader, public servant, and small-business professional running for the U.S. House of Representatives in New York’s 5th Congressional District. He has spent over a decade working in community-based roles focused on food access, workforce development, and local economic support. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he helped establish a community food pantry that provided meals to tens of thousands of New Yorkers. Padellaro is running for Congress to bring accountability, accessibility, and working-class representation to Washington.

This campaign is focused on restoring trust in government by centering the needs of working families, renters, immigrants, students, and small business owners. Padellaro believes elected officials should be present, accountable, and responsive to the communities they serve - not insulated by entrenched political systems or special interests.Padellaro’s background is rooted in hands-on community work, not career politics. From addressing food insecurity to supporting local economic initiatives, he brings a practical, results-driven approach to public service. His campaign emphasizes policy solutions that improve affordability, access to healthcare and education, and economic stability for everyday New Yorkers.This campaign is built around grassroots organizing, volunteer engagement, and public accountability. Padellaro is committed to open communication with constituents, ethical governance, and ensuring that the voices of NY-5 residents - not lobbyists or donors - guide legislative priorities.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Salvatore Padellaro is particularly passionate about policies that improve economic security and access to basic needs for working families. His priorities include establishing universal healthcare, completely forgiving federal student loan debt, strengthening public education, and ensuring housing affordability. He also supports abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and replacing it with a humane, accountable immigration system that respects due process and human rights. Drawing on his background in community-based service and food access work, Padellaro emphasizes food security, immigrant rights, and ethical governance, viewing public policy as a tool to make government more transparent, responsive, and accountable.
