Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I was born and raised in the 76th House District. My wife is a 2nd grade teacher, our oldest daughter is a speech-language pathologist in Osage City, our second oldest daughter is and electrical engineer for the Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant and our son is a welder for the Boilermakers Union. We live on and operate our family farm in Central Coffey County. In my professional career I have worked for the Emporia Fire Dept. 1994-2008 , Director of Emergency Management for Coffey County 2008-2020, and Director of Emergency Services / Fire Chief for Riley County 2020-2026. I will retire from my current position in September of this year.

Keep government as small and efficient as possible.Evaluate legislation with special interest on how it affects cities and counties to prevent unnecessary tax increases due to unfunded mandates.Support KS agricultural producers and industry. Ag is the backbone of the KS economy and we must keep it robust and vibrant.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Legislation that affects First Responders (Fire, EMS, Law Enforcement, 911 Dispatchers, Emergency Management etc. )
Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?
My father and both my grandfathers. They are/were all hard working patriotic Americans. Both grandfathers served in WWII and my dad got me started in my Emergency Services Career. They taught me my work ethic and desire to serve the community we live in.

Honesty, integrity, and openess
What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?
Keeping what is best for the constituents as the priority when evaluating proposed legislation.
What legacy would you like to leave?
Family farm ready for the next generation to take over.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
Working on the family farm. My wife and I continue to operate the family farm today. Close to 50 years working on the farm.
What is something that has been a struggle in your life?
Balancing family time with work and volunteer time.
