Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Hard working families and seniors are getting left behind by jet-setting politicians who ignore reality. I’m a native Mainer, veteran and business owner who is ready to get to work making life better for all Mainers!
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Civility, respect, and productive discourse in Congress are not mere politeness; they are practical tools that make Congress more effective, strengthen democracy, and build public trust. In my view, legislation drawn strictly along party lines wastes time and money, as it is quickly discarded or reversed by executive order when the opposing party takes power.
To achieve bipartisan solutions, we need civil discourse and debate—but Congress has failed the American people on this front. Politicians have become fixated on scoring points against the other side, neglecting the many challenges facing Maine families and small businesses. They must set aside self-interest and remember they serve the people first.America’s schools are failing, and our children are paying the price. A strong education system is essential for our nation’s future prosperity and global competitiveness. Every child deserves a high-quality education and the opportunity to meet rigorous standards in core subjects.
Despite ranking fifth in the world for education funding, the United States ranks just 24th in science, 39th in math, and 39th in reading. We must do better if we want our kids to compete and succeed in a global economy.
Parents deserve a stronger voice in their children’s education. They should be treated as partners, not bystanders. We need to get back to the basics: math, science, history, and English, so students graduate ready for life.Maine is a high-tax state already; we face one of the highest overall state and local tax burdens in the country, at roughly 11–12% of income, putting us in the top tier nationally – we cannot afford additional Federal taxes on top of all that.
Maine’s 1st Congressional District median household income is in the mid‑$80,000s, with many families well below that. Our economy is small‑business and wage‑earner driven, and we rely heavily on small employers, service jobs, and seasonal work, so federal tax complexity discourages hiring and investment.
We need to protect the temporary tax relief gains made by passage of the Big Beautiful Bill and make them permanent.

Russell’s campaign website stated the following:
The Key Issues
The What and Why
As Americans, we must come together to determine what the existing problems are, and why they exist before we can determine how to solve them. We all know that there are endless ways to solve a problem, and I believe that as Americans -we all generally agree on what outcome we are seeking to achieve. However, there are vastly different ways to get to the solution.
Whether we are dealing with the current immigration crisis, inflation, crime, the drug epidemic, or national security – we must discuss the best solutions to solve these problems. Any solution must embrace the free market, ensure the safety and security of American citizens, and put Mainers first.[3]
