Kirby submitted the following statement to [the profile publisher] regarding his political philosophy:[1]
My desire to serve our district comes from my experience as a small business owner and my civic involvement. I have seen the need for job growth as well as economic development. We need to nurture the existing business infrastructure and welcome new industries to our district through regional economic development partnerships. As a representative, one of my top priorities will also be education. It is one of the basic building blocks of economic development and growth for the future. As Florence County Transportation Commissioner I know the need for safe roads and bridges. Ongoing improvements to the highway/road systems in the district will create additional growth opportunities.
