In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I'm an entrepreneur, businessman, and three-term Converse County Commissioner. I grew up in Glenrock, Wyoming, where my parents instilled the values of hard work, integrity, and loyalty.
After working in power line construction and uranium mining, I studied electrical engineering and computer science, graduated top of my class, built a career in technology that took me around the world, working for Fortune 500 companies and startups.
In 2005, I returned with my family to Douglas and started a small business with my wife and best friend, Janella.
Over the past 21 years, the business grew into many spanning energy, agriculture, retail, and tourism—creating many jobs in Converse County. My experience building companies, creating opportunity, and diversifying the economy shapes my vision for Wyoming’s future.
Since 2014, I've brought that work ethic to county government—listening to residents and focusing on practical results.
I'm proud of my involvement with Wyoming County Commissioners Association, currently serving as vice president. I championed WCCA's Congressional Tour Initiative, to bring congressional staffers from Washington, D.C. to Wyoming for in-depth tours of the state. We educate policymakers on the realities of living and working in Wyoming and strengthen relationships to improve outcomes for Wyoming communities.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
I am deeply committed to the principles of smaller government, low taxes, free markets, and the Constitution. I hold an unshakable belief in helping people and have dedicated much of my life to service. The Secretary of State is charged with duties that first and foremost require an unwavering commitment to following rules that build trust, ensure fairness and accuracy, and promote accountability in our state, while always putting the best interest of Wyomingites first. My life and career are built on these principles and I live true to my word.As Secretary of State, I’ll work to protect Wyoming citizens from fraudulent investment schemes like cryptocurrency scams, ensure the firms and individuals working in Wyoming uphold our rules and state statutes, and educate our people about financial security and safety. When rules are broken or enforced unfairly, trust is lost, families are hurt, and we all suffer. It is the responsibility of the Secretary of State to investigate violations and refer criminal matters to the appropriate authorities when necessary. I will tirelessly commit to ensuring compliance, because in Wyoming, we believe in being tough and fair. The security of Wyoming’s elections is critical, and you can count on my commitment as Secretary of State to ensuring they are conducted in a fair, honest, and accurate manner. The commitment to strengthen trust in Wyoming’s elections at every level is of utmost importance to me. By striving for constant improvement in our election processes—and being prepared to take swift and decisive action if missteps occur—we can achieve exceptional levels of trust in the outcome of elections at every level. I am resolute in my commitment to overseeing Wyoming’s elections with unflinching integrity.
