In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
The incumbent wants to split the state into two; emotionally appealing and fiscally reckless. The West side sends 30% more dollars our direction than we ship to them. Dissing on Olympia resonates with highly likely voters who will vote against their wallets!
So - with little planning - I made a snap decision when I saw early on the last day to file that our current Representative was unopposed on the ballot. The incumbent is popular. Many in Eastern Washington feel left out of the legislative loop - "The West Side" with a higher population runs ALL of Washington.
As a Precinct Committee Officer (PCO) for a couple of years I understand the difficulty for any Democrat bid for office in our district; one that typically swings to Republican candidates by double digits.
I have a theory about this district. WA State leans blue and the effect is that all lawmaking is dominated by those in the majority party - there is little need to compromise. With only minority standing, Republican Party candidates have less influence to shape policy as it shaped be democrats.
As a member of the Democratic Party, I will be more effective negotiating the very real issues of Eastern Washington while working in Olympia.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Data Centers are bad, consuming resources at a discounted rate with little return for the communities they compromise.
Very much like Crypto Mining but ten times bigger. The already constructed centers swallow massive amounts of energy, have ruined water quality, and are massive structures filled with foreign manufactured hardware.
What have they brought to the community where they are located?
Higher utility costs
Lower water quality
Precious few local jobsPre-K thru College education.
$1000 - $2500 for two children in a Pre-K program!?!?!
"AI the way" to effective education cripples critical thinking.
If government is By the People, For the People, and Of the People, Olympia should do more to support real needs of the People.
Economic social stratification is real and support for education at every grade is one tool to level the playing field.Taxes:
The millionaire's tax legislation has got to be revised to contain language that the threshold will never be lowered.
Every taxpayer makes a deal with their government: I'll contribute, and government delivers. Roads, schools, emergency services, clean water. When government fails to deliver, that contract is broken. Sometimes voters feel that the government has failed them - but the dollars did go to support a more deserving cause.
Eastern Washington gets more dollars from Olympia than we send there. I want to be sure that the dollars are spent where they do the most good - and - be sure voters know it was spent wisely.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
Citizen United has subjugated brilliant, practical ideals with flooding the zone with money money money. Unlimited unaccountable campaign funding is destroying our moral values.
For example, big money has convinced lesser informed voters that the 40% inheritance tax is stealing from their children.
The cap was $5 million in 2010.
The cap is $15 million in 2016.
I don't happen to have MORE than $5,000,000 (or Fifteen Million Dollars) to leave to my children. But big money does.
