In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
Rob Krop is a lifelong Marylander from Frederick County, husband to his wife Steph of 18 years, and father of four. A Liberty University graduate with a degree in Biblical Studies, Rob is an active member of First Baptist Church of Green Valley. Faith, family, and personal responsibility guide how he lives and leads.
With over 20 years in real estate, Rob leads the Krop Team, one of the DMV’s top-performing real estate teams, and owns Key City Property Management. He is also founder and owner of The Machine Gun Nest, Frederick’s premier indoor shooting range, where he promotes firearm safety, education, and Second Amendment rights.
Rob knows firsthand the consequences of government overreach. After being indicted by the federal government, he fought the charges and was ultimately found not guilty on all counts by a Maryland jury. That experience strengthened his commitment to protecting citizens from abuses of government authority.
As a real estate professional and business owner, Rob has seen Maryland families squeezed by rising housing costs, taxes, property assessments, and policies that threaten property rights and affordability. He has also witnessed the impact of major infrastructure and data center projects on local communities.
Rob is running to make Maryland more affordable, protect property rights and individual liberty, and ensure government works for the people—not against them.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Cut Taxes, Fees, and Cost of Living
We will work to reverse increased taxes and fees and make Maryland more affordable. Our plan includes reducing corporate and individual income tax rates to 4.9%, controlling government spending, and creating an environment where businesses can grow, hire, and thrive. We will fight to lower the financial burden on Maryland families, reduce the rising cost of living, and protect retirees and seniors from being taxed out of their homes and communities.Fix the Energy Crisis
We will increase reliable energy production here in Maryland so families are less dependent on electricity imported from neighboring states. Our plan includes expanding in-state power generation and pursuing technologies such as small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) and natural gas, while protecting Maryland’s farmland, natural resources, and the Chesapeake Bay.Build the Key Bridge Now
We will take immediate action to accelerate reconstruction of the Key Bridge, using available emergency authority to cut unnecessary delays and move construction forward. We will also prioritize Maryland’s roads and bridges to ensure critical infrastructure is safe, reliable, and efficiently maintained.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am particularly passionate about reducing taxes and making homeownership more affordable. After more than 20 years in real estate, I have seen how rising property taxes and assessments can make owning a home increasingly difficult, especially for seniors and families on fixed incomes.
I want to reform Maryland’s property tax system so homeowners are not continually taxed more simply because the estimated value of their home increased. Homeownership should be a path to stability and generational wealth—not an ever-increasing tax burden that can eventually price people out of their own homes.
