In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

Hello,

My name is Rick Robb, and I have decided to run for State Senate, District S.

I have lived in Bethel since 1988, where I have built my home, raised my family, and dedicated my career to helping others. I have a long-standing commitment to the people and communities across our region.

I have a career helping people in Behavioral Health. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and bring over 30 years of experience developing and implementing programs that help people in need. I have worked for Bethel Community Services, YKHC, and now the Bethel Family Clinic. This work reflects my ongoing commitment to helping others.

I have experience as a public servant. I served on the Bethel City Council from 2009 to 2018 and was mayor for 4 of those years. I served on the Alaska Municipal League Board of Directors, and past President of the Alaska Conference of Mayors. I served on several city committees and commissions. As a public servant, I have always put the needs of the people I serve as the priority.

We have a huge geographic area in District S. Our district stretches from the Middle Kuskokwim to the Aleutian Islands. We are home to about 35,000 people in numerous communities and different geographic areas.

As a district, we face many challenges as well as opportunities. We need effective representation and leadership in Junea to meet our challenges and opportunities. We need a state senator that will represent the interest of the people here. I believe I am that person.

Protect our Fisheries

Responsible, sustainable commercial fishing.

End unsustainable trawling.

On Protecting Our Fisheries:

The salmon runs on the Kuskokwim have sustained our people for generations. But after decades of decline, our way of life—and our food security—is under threat. One major factor is out-of-state trawling fleets that drag the ocean floor, destroying habitat and depleting salmon, halibut, and crab stocks. This unsustainable practice doesn’t just harm the Kuskokwim—it threatens Bristol Bay, The Alaska Peninsula, and all of Alaska’s vital fisheries.

As your State Senator, I will promote the stopping trawling in Alaska waters. I will push the State of Alaska to work with the federal government to rein in destructive tPeople Before Politics

For the people, not a party, party elite, or special interest. I will always represent the people of District S and every vote will be with our interests in mind. Effective Leadership for Southwest AlaskaTaxes

I oppose a statewide sales tax. With our high cost of living, this would disproportionally hurt us. It would also compete with revenue for many of our local governments.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

People over Politics. I Have always worked to put out people before a party, or an ideology.

Public Service : 9 years Bethel City Council, 4 years as Major

Fisheries: We must protect our fisheries.

Education: Long term planning and stable budgets.

Taxes: Oppose a statewide sales tax.

Responsible Resource Development: We need responsible development. Not Donlin Gold or Pebble Mine.

Efficiency in Government: Reduce needless bureaucracy.
