Retired business owner of a successful steel Fabrication Corp. Employed by AT&T and retired as a Project Manager. I'm a community service provider with Daughters of American Revolution (DAR), as a service organization. I teach the Constitution to students in Miami, Linn, Franklin, and where ever I am ask and have done this for 13 years. I am a Christian and a descendent of a Revolutionary Patriot. I believe in the value of teaching with the philosophy of our Founding Fathers. I have been a teachers aid, substituted in Bonner Springs/Edwardsville Schools and volunteered teaching Junior Achievement in Junction Primary School. Along with my teaching I am a State DAR Constitution Week Chair overseeing 60 Chapters who promote awareness and education on the Constitution and Bill of Rights. The students I teach are eager to learn and make my work very rewarding.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
My concept of better education is getting back to the basics of reading, writing, Arithmetic and Civics in classrooms across Kansas. The quality of education has hurt the students, parents, teachers, and taxpayers. Less screen time and more classroom learning.Accreditation met in our schools - School leadership needs to set goals i.e. "here we are, and this is where we will be" in accreditation.Parental Guidance in their Children's education without Government interference, and individualized forms of learning. "One size fits all" does not work well in education.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I like the newest policy of Kansas Legislators of no cell phones in classrooms. Let's get back to having religion/faith classes as part of their curriculum by transporting students to their instruction. This has been done in the past.
What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?
Attorney General, Kris Kobach; Kansas State Board of Education, District 10, Debby Potter
