Reid Beaman graduated from Edgecombe Early College High School. Beaman earned a bachelor's degree from East Carolina University in 2012. Beaman's career experience includes working as an artist.[1]

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I'm Reid Beaman and I am running for the South Carolina House of Representatives District 87 seat in Lexington in the 2026 General Election.

I don’t really want to sound like the same old state house politician because I’m not one of them. Truthfully, I’m just a simple southern comic book artist with the hope to make life better for everyone in the state of South Carolina.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Making life affordable again for all South Carolinians.

Who do you look up to? Whose example would you like to follow, and why?

I would like to follow in the footsteps of Atticus Finch the fictional lawyer and father from Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird. Atticus is a devoted father with a strong moral compass, empathy, and compassion to help everyone in his community. Atticus Finch took up the case for a disabled black man falsely accused of rape, he came to the aid of a neighbor who's house was on fire, he stood up to help his neighbors put down a rabid dog, he showed he was a good father by sitting and listing to Scout and Jem (his kids) even when the subject was hard to comprehend for the kids, and he took up for Scout when she needed her father to fight for her most.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

Love, Compassion, Honesty, and Truth.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

You are there to serve ALL of the district to the best of your abilities. You do what is right by your constituents and you represent their needs as best as you can first and for most.

What legacy would you like to leave?

I would like to leave a legacy that our roads in need of repair actually got fixed, that South Carolina became a leader in education not a follower, that the states natural beauty was maintained and not turned under development. I want people to feel hopeful again about our future.
