In their own words

Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

My name is Reed Krewson, and I am a lifelong Kansan, a dedicated public servant, and a young leader running to represent House District 22. I was born and raised in Overland Park, attended grades K–12 in Kansas public schools, and have proudly chosen to make OP my forever home. I hold a bachelor's degree in political science from Kansas State University and a Master's in Public Administration from the University of Kansas.

I have dedicated my life and career to public service. Currently, I work for Overland Park Parks and Recreation, where I help make OP a place where people truly want to live, work, and play. Beyond my day job, I serve as President of the Kansas Young Democrats, working to organize the next generation of Kansans who are ready to lead our state. I have been deeply involved in organizing since I was 16, working on local, state, and federal campaigns, and I became a precinct committeeperson the moment I turned 18. I know how to organize, how to listen, and how to win.

I’m running for the State House because Kansans have waited too long for leadership that takes action on common-sense issues like expanding Medicaid, fully funding our public schools, and protecting our land, air, and water. If elected, I would be the youngest legislator in Topeka, bringing a much-needed perspective to the legislature.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

As a lifelong resident of Overland Park and a dedicated public servant, I am running for House District 22 because Kansas needs leaders who will live with the consequences of today’s decisions. I grew up here, attended our public schools, and now work for our city’s Parks and Recreation department to ensure OP remains a great place to live. If elected, I will be the youngest legislator in Topeka. I am stepping up because it is time for a new generation of leadership to fight for our community's long-term future and deliver the common-sense results District 22 deserves.Kansans are tired of waiting for action on issues that should have been fixed a long time ago. As a proud product of Kansas public schools and state universities, I am committed to fully funding our K-12 schools and ensuring higher education is affordable for the next generation. We also must pass Medicaid expansion immediately. It is a common-sense solution that will lower healthcare costs, protect our hospitals, and ensure every Kansan has access to the care they need to thrive. I am running to stop the delays and finally get this done.I will fiercely advocate for the fundamental rights and quality of life of every Kansan. This means unapologetically protecting reproductive freedom and fighting back against government overreach into our personal healthcare decisions. It also means taking urgent action to protect our land, air, and water so our state remains beautiful for generations to come.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

I am passionate about forward-looking policies that build a Kansas that works for everyone. We must fully fund K-12 schools and make higher education affordable. Healthcare is critical, which is why I will fight to expand Medicaid, protect reproductive freedom, and legalize medical marijuana. To build a strong economy, we must empower organized labor, invest in modern transportation and infrastructure, and tackle the affordable housing crisis so working families can thrive. We also must fiercely protect our environment. Finally, as a young leader, I recognize the urgent need for smart AI and data regulations to protect our privacy. I am ready to fight for the long-term future of District 22.

What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?

I have been endorsed by current HD22 Rep. Lindasy Vaughn, former HD 22 Rep. Nancy Lusk, and House Democratic Leader Brandon Woodard.
