In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I have spent my life serving the community I call home. I spent more than 33 years with the Michigan City Fire Department, eventually serving as Fire Chief, and later served as President of the LaPorte County Council. I have also worked for more than 28 years as a licensed real estate broker. Today, I am proud to serve Northwest Indiana as State Representative for House District 9. My approach has always been simple: listen to people, work together, use common sense, and focus on getting results.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
I didn't get into public service to play politics. I got involved to help people and solve problems. From the firehouse to county government and now the Statehouse, I have worked with people from all backgrounds and both parties to deliver results. I want to continue bringing practical, community-first leadership to Indianapolis and making sure Northwest Indiana has a strong voice.Working families are being squeezed by the rising costs of housing, healthcare, utilities, childcare, and everyday necessities. I believe the state government should focus on making it easier for Hoosiers to build a good life here. That means expanding workforce housing, protecting taxpayers from costs being shifted onto them, supporting good-paying jobs, and making sure our state budget is being used to address the challenges families actually face. After more than four decades in the fire service, public safety will always be one of my priorities. Indiana needs to strengthen fire, EMS, 911, and other emergency services while addressing the mental health and addiction crises that put additional pressure on first responders. I am proud to have already passed legislation supporting Indiana's volunteer firefighters, and I want to continue delivering results for the people who protect our communities.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
I am especially passionate about public safety, affordability, good-paying jobs, healthcare, housing, and strong communities. My experience as a Fire Chief, Union President, County Council President, Real Estate Broker, and State Representative has shown me how decisions made in Indianapolis affect people at the local level. I believe state government should focus on practical solutions that improve people's lives rather than partisan politics. Randy's policy priorities specifically emphasize public safety capacity, affordability, workforce housing, good jobs, and mental health and addiction services.
