Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
My Name is Rafael Alcoser III, and I am running for Congress in TX- 35 , the most gerrymandered district in the state.
I was raised in the Texas Congressional District 35 , unlike my opponent, and I live in my congressional district and have a basic knowledge of the needs of our community.
I am Not a career politician that is out of touch with the needs and citizens of our communities.
Running a grass-roots campaign is not easy, but hard work has never held me back, and it wont start now! With your support, WE can change Congress to what it was always meant to be: Of the People, For the People, By the People!
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Help me fight for Medicare for All, Green New Deal, and common sence laws!!!We can fix our healthcare, education, environment, however, it will take everyone to vote for change!!I am Not a career politican, I believe you should be able to return to your profession and live under same laws passed...
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
1. Funding the Veterans Administration
2. Fully funding public education
3. Medicare for All
4. Green Ne Deal
What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?
I believe that as an elected official it is very important to be transparent and honest. An elected official must also be competent and fair. I also believe integrity matters most.
What legacy would you like to leave?
I would like to leave the legacy for my community and constituents that their voice metters and their vote counts.
What was your very first job? How long did you have it?
My first job was greasing truck fitting, and it last for a few years. I was only 10, and even at a young age this gave me a solid work ethic, which I intend to continue while representing my constituents.
What was the last song that got stuck in your head?
Frank Sinatra , Fly Me to the Moon
If you are not a current representative, are there certain committees that you would want to be a part of?
I would want to be part of the Veterans Affairs , Education and Labor, Armed Services, Select Committee on the Climate Crisis, however, I am willing to work on what is needed.
Do you believe that two years is the right term length for representatives?
Yes, if you are working hard and representing your constituents, then there should be much you can offer and do in 2 yrs. Congressional seats were not meant to be lifelong seats or even a career.
What are your thoughts on term limits?
I am a firm believer that we need term limits. You should be able to return to your respected profession and live under the same laws you helped pass. It is just common sense.
Both sitting representatives and candidates for office hear many personal stories from the residents of their district. Is there a story that you’ve heard that you found particularly touching, memorable, or impactful?
The recurring story I have heard over and over is that of our veterans not being met where they need to be in regards to their healthcare. This resonates with me personally as I am from a huge military family myself. We need to do better not just for our Veterans , but for everyone in terms of healthcare.
