In their own words
Who are you? Tell us about yourself.
I didn't plan to run for office. I planned to keep building things in the place I love — community theatre, programs that help people gain new skills, a business rooted in northern Michigan. But the more I listened to neighbors across our seven counties, the clearer it became: people here are doing everything right and still falling behind. I've been there myself — navigating housing, childcare, and healthcare on a tight budget — and that shapes how I see this work. I co-founded the Human Development Collective to help people and communities grow, and my career has been in healthcare and learning. I'm running for the State House to put our communities first and make daily life more affordable and fair. We are the 105.
Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?
Making daily life more affordable — food, housing, and healthcare you can actually reach — is my top priority. Our economy should work for the people who build it. I'll support workers and their unions, back the small businesses rooted in our towns instead of big corporations, and keep good jobs and fair wages close to home.I'll bring people together across our seven counties, and I'll work to get big money out of politics so government answers to you — not donors.
What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?
This place is home, and I want families to be able to survive and stay here. The basics matter most, each as important as the next: food on the table, housing they can afford, healthcare they can afford to use — universal, with no deductibles or copays — and good jobs that pay a fair wage. I also want to protect what we love about northern Michigan: our lakes, rivers, and forests. From there, strong public schools in every county and skilled trades training help young people build careers close to home. I'll also work to get big money out of politics, so government answers to people, not donors. Strong families make strong communities.
